59/365 - New Year's Eve

Jon and I both have the flu. Isobel seems to be feeling better.

We headed over to the new apartment to unpack a few boxes. Hopefully, we're feeling better tomorrow so that we can move some more boxes.

We all went to bed at 7:30 this evening - so much for New Year's Eve. Although, I had to get up before midnight and log into work to change the parking rates and taxes. Just now finished and going back to bed to hopefully sleep off this headache - assuming that I can get to the correct body temperature for sleeping.

58/365 - New Apartment

We got the keys to our new apartment yesterday. And I finally got to see it.

But I was so sick. I ended up throwing up a couple of times that morning, including just before leaving to go get the keys. So I was no help to Matty and Jon with the first load of boxes.

And then in the evening, Jon started showing symptoms. So we all went to bed at 7pm.

57/365 - Tea with Brian

Isobel didn't get a bottle last night and didn't complain about it. However, Jon had to sleep with her the entire night; she woke up a couple of times but went back to sleep with little fussing. I, on the other hand, kept waking up wondering how she was doing and not feeling well myself.

I went into work today, but left early feeling dizzy and nauseous. I think I may be getting what Belly has.

Brian came over this morning to entertain Isobel while Jon got some packing done. Isobel even managed to convince him to let her play with his engineering ring; I think she has a thing for jewelry.

Isobel didn't throw up so far today, but was really clingy and sleepy today. She would have been content to just breastfeed and doze all evening if I'd let her. She did manage to eat a bit of dinner as I made her current favorite of bunny mac and cheese.

56/365 - Cup of Tea

Alida and family gave Isobel this teapot toy for Christmas and Isobel loves it. She carries it around all over the apartment, pouring tea, and making us drink some. It was a great gift.

Last night, I woke up at 12:30 to Jon calling me. Isobel had puked all over her sheets and pillow. So we got her changed into a fresh pair of pajamas, put the puke infested items into the wash and remade the bed. Once again Isobel puked all over the sheets. And a second pajama and sheet change occurred. Since the wash was still going from the first bout, these items were set by the washer for the first load in the morning. But once again, Isobel puked. So another fresh set of pjs and sheets. (And Jon wonders why I'm loathe to part with all of my sets of sheets for Isobel's bed). This time we let her wander around our living room playing. And she puked two more times, before we put her back to bed two hours later. Made for an interesting night.

She seemed fine in the morning. So after a late morning nap, Jon and I packed her up and took her to Chris and Annie's for a few hours. We were able to return their glider and ottoman that we had borrowed (which was great when Isobel was a baby, but we're trying to move as little as possible). Isobel had lots of fun playing with Mira and Rowan, while Jon and I were able to go home and tackle packing the kitchen up. It's mostly complete, but we started to run out of boxes.

Isobel fell asleep on the way home, so we drove a bit longer and ran a couple of errands - purchasing more laundry soap to wash all the puked on sheets. Got home and Isobel was not quite herself; didn't want to eat and wanted to be cuddled. After her bath, she crawled onto my lap on the couch and breastfeed for a little while. Then played a little bit, and then wanted back onto my lap again. This time however, she puked all over me and herself. So while Jon cleaned her up, I took a quick shower. Afterward she seemed energetic and wanted to play, but I'm afraid we'll have another pukey night.

55/365 - Walking Outside By Herself

We went out to the crepes place by our apartment for brunch today. I really wish we had started going there sooner, although it's probably good we didn't. It's one of the things about where we live right now that I'll miss.

On the way home, Isobel wanted to walk by herself. I wanted her to take my hand, but she refused. So instead I fretted most of the walk home about her falling and hurting herself, her running out into traffic, etc. Except for having to pick her up and carry her a way from all outside stairs, after letting her explore some, it was a great experience. She really enjoyed herself. I carried her across the street, but figured it's time to start teaching her to stop and look both ways before crossing already.

Today was supposed to be about packing and cleaning; however Isobel was really cranky and made it hard to get a lot done. We did manage to get our bathroom emptied and cleaned; as well as most of the pantry. And a few boxes got packed. Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive.

Isobel took a late afternoon nap on me as she fell asleep breastfeeding. Her and I took a bath this evening, where she started copying me and sticking her tongue out at me and then giggling. And now Jon's trying to get her to sleep.

54/365 - Boxing Day

Okay, not too much of a write up. We went to Jon's mom's for an early lunch and then met up with his dad at Spaghetti Factory for a late lunch. Allison and Jordan are on the other side of the table.

Jon, Isobel and I then went to the twoonie swim. Where Isobel proceeded to have lots of fun going down the slide. Stopped and picked up a few groceries and then got home. Threw the baby in a bath to wash her hair and then got ready for bed.

Hopefully the next two days are more productive in terms of packing.

53/365 - Christmas Day

We had a very nice Christmas this year. We watched Isobel open presents in the morning and Jon put her new shopping cart together; which she seems to like. And, in true Christmas style, Isobel has cranky for a while.

We then packed upa nd headed out to Chilliwack for dinner at Nana and Poppa Clouatre's. Isobel was spoiled there and we ate lots of very yummy food. On the way home, Jon and I agreed that we need to ask Althea for her sweet potato recipe. And I even ate some turkey as Althea always makes a great turkey and I'm not a big turkey fan.

Isobel had lots of fun playing with the girls. And trying to avoid the puppy as she's still not fond of small dogs.

I could write so much more, but I have to go get ready for all of the Boxing Day events.

52/365 - Christmas Eve

I love her expression in this picture.

I still don't feel Christmasy this year. Oh well.....

It was a nice short day of work for both Jon and I. It's so nice to have him home in the evenings.

Jon thinks that we wait until Isobel is better at understanding what we say before having her learn to fall asleep on her own - which means that he's putting her to bed for the next year at least since she doesn't like falling asleep for me most nights - or that on the occasions I put her to bed, I'm sleeping with her until she wakes up in the middle of the night and Jon takes over.

51/365 - Toes

Isobel will crawl onto my lap whenever I'm sitting on the floor.

One of the first things she does when we get home is want to breastfeed and then pull her socks off while breastfeeding.

I've realized that Isobel thinks she needs Jon to go to sleep. And that's why she doesn't sleep well for me. There was a little while when she'd go to sleep easily for me and then stay asleep for a while, but not any more. So my new goal is to try to get her to be able to fall asleep without Jon laying down with her. I don't think I'll be getting a lot of sleep for the next little while, but in the long run I'm hoping her sleep habits improve.

50/365 - 3 More Sleeps Til Christmas

For some reason this year I'm not in a Christmas mood. Probably the fact that I didn't do any decorating since we're packing. Or baking. Oh well, I don't think Isobel will notice this year, but I'll have to make the effort next year.

49/365 - Work Stairs

I stayed up way too late last night and am really tired today. Jon dressed Isobel in a pajama top today. They arrived at my work really early and Isobel had lots of fun climbing up and down the stairs. We went for lunch at Milestones, and once again, Isobel stole the lime. After driving Jon to work, Isobel and I picked up some groceries and headed home. She was super crabby when we got home.

Am now trying to get her to bed and it's not going very well. I've been spoiled lately and Jon's been putting her to bed. She doesn't like to go to sleep for me and is now screaming in her bedroom as I'm not laying down with her if she's not going to lay down and try to go to sleep. I hate doing this, but she really needs to learn how to fall asleep.

48/365 - Goggles

I had to work today. Started at 4:30am and fortunately, we wrapped up just after 10:00am. I'm really tired now and think I may end up in bed early. I kept waking up last night, scared of sleeping through the alarm.

Isobel loves these swim goggles/onion cutting goggles of Jon's.

47/365 - Day at The Birds

We headed out to the Birds today for a pre-Christmas get together. As usual they were great hosts. It was too bad that Pieter and Brian were both ill; we missed them both and had been looking forward to seeing Pieter again. At the Brids, we ate, played a game, and visited. Isobel had lots of fun playing. Cordelia has grown so much since we last saw her - she's full of cute baby giggles and is a very good girl and took a nice afternoon nap. Isobel probably ate almost ten mandarin oranges - thanks Matt for peeling most of them and feeding them to her.

46/365 - Kiss Night Night for Mommy

I'm so glad it's Friday. Work was busy trying to get things done before overflow parking begins on Sunday morning.

Isobel didn't like me trying to organize and pack things tonight. She got quite upset about it, so I figured it was time to stop and try to spend some more attention on her. We had a bath and then read some stories and she seemed much happier. I didn't try to put her to bed until later and she was still awake when Jon got home. She was very excited to see her daddy and wasn't going to fall asleep, so she's now running around the house and I'll try to put her down again soon.

44/365 - Not So Good Day

So today was not the greatest. I had another training session at work, my computer and phone were not set up when I arrived in the morning, my office is still in boxes, it was pouring rain for a while, and my purse got stolen. On the plus side, we signed a lease for an apartment closer to work, I was able to move to a different workstation that I like better than where I was originally going to sit, and Isobel didn't want to breastfeed while I was on the phone with the RCMP and credit card company.

I first realized that my purse was missing when Jon picked my up. It went missing about 45 minutes before then, when I walked to another area at work and then forgot my purse there when I returned to my office. My coworkers were great, and helped me search everywhere. But no luck. I'm probably more upset about it than I should be, but I was really hoping that it would turn up and not have been stolen. And since we were signing a new lease I had my cheque book with me, which I never carry with me otherwise. So my debit card has been replaced and the credit card cancelled - there was a hold placed on the card due to fraudulent activity. Tomorrow after work, I'll go get a new driver's license and maybe wallet. And Jon's going to report my building fob as stolen once we confirm which are the valid ones. I really liked that purse. Plus all of my keys were there, and a card of Isobel's that had a picture of her as a baby that I wanted to keep. Very annoying. Is it bad to hope that the bag (with most of its content) will still be found and turned in?

Anyways, it's 11pm and Isobel's still up as it was a long day of dealing with issues on the phone and when Jon got home from Kate's play, she got excited to see him.

43/365 - Christmas Party at the Aquarium

I didn't get to sit at my desk for most of the day today and we're rearranging the workstations in my office area to fit in two more people. It wasn't finished when I left for the day so I'm not sure how it all turned out; hopefully it's not too squishy.

Jon and Isobel picked me up from work. And we have to go sign a lease for a new apartment tomorrow. I still haven't see the inside, but I'm sure it will be fine. It's a lot closer to work, so the commute time will be significantly reduced. But I will miss the apartment we live in now.

This evening, Isobel and I went to the Christmas party at the Aquarium for members. It was a RSVP event and they were expecting 2,000 people. It was very crowded and Isobel didn't want to stand in line for anything - including seeing Santa. But she did have a lot of fun running around and watching the bigger kids and eating a cookie.

We ended up getting home late though, way past er normal bedtime Since she still hadn't fallen asleep for me by the time Jon got home, he took over so I could take a quick shower.

42/365 - Buns

Blog this photo

42/365 - Buns
Isobel goes through phases with food. She'll eat something everyday and only eat that thing. Usually, it's more than one thing, but it's still annoying. Right now all that I can get her to eat with a lot of success is bananas, grapes, melon, and buns. Yesterday Angel was surprised to watch Isobel eat two buns by herself. Oh well, eventually she'll learn to like veggies as well.

Today was a busy day at work. I was either in meetings or training all day long and only saw my desk for maybe two minutes. Plus things in my office area are supposed to be re-organized tomorrow and I'm still not sure if I need to pack my stuff up there to facilitate the moves. Oh well....looks like I'll be throwing stuff from my desk into boxes at the last minute if required. Plus I'm hoping to see a more finalized copy of my Olympic schedule to start planning for required childcare.

On the way home, Isobel and I stopped at the pool. And yes, my bathing suit was there. I still feel stupid for forgetting it - I was so worried about making sure Isobel was warmly dressed and that we didn't forget any of her things, that I forgot I had my suit hanging in the change room.

Isobel freaked out when I started getting the kitchen garbage ready to go out. But when I went out into the hallway to the garbage chute she followed me and was fine. As soon as I opened up the cupboard to put a new garbage bag in the container she got upset again. So I saved the bathroom garbage for later even though it desperately needs emptying.

Isobel went to bed early tonight - just before 7pm - and fell asleep really quickly. I was able to sneak out, throw a load of laundry into the dryer, and wash most of the dishes. When I was almost finished the dishes, she woke up crying. I quickly finished the last few dishes and then crawled back in bed with her. Within minutes she was snoring again and I was able to sneak out. I had just turned on the pot to sterilize her bottle bits and the kettle to make myself some tea when she awoke again. So I turned everything off and crawled back into bed with her again. This time I refused to breastfeed her, so it took a little longer for her to fall asleep, but eventually I was able to sneak out again. Now I'm just hoping that she's down for the night or, more realistically, at least a good three hours.

41/365 - Fire Alarm

This morning was spent changing the sheets on Isobel's bed and trying to pack up a few things in her room. And then the fire alarm went off. Off course, we were all still in our pajamas. So Jon got him and Isobel dressed while I threw a couple of clothes for her in the diaper bag and got myself dressed. By the time we got to the ground level, the alarm had stopped.

It was snowing outside and I didn't want to wait for the elevators to be turned back on, and try to fight for a spot on one; so we walked the two blocks to the crepe place Jon likes for lunch. Isobel wasn't interested in the eggs from Jon's crepe, or even the crepe itself, but she did drink most of her apple juice and ate most of the banana that was inside my crepe.

When we got home, we packed up to go swimming since it's been a couple of weeks. We picked up Angel on the way to the pool. I was hoping that the teach pool would be just a tiny bit warmer than it was. But it was still a lot of fun. It's great watching how excited Isobel gets to be in the pool. But a little scary as she wants to take off and doesn't realize that she doesn't know how to swim yet and a two foot deep pool is very deep for someone her size. As soon as we got there she seemed to recall all the fun she had on the slide last time, and b-lined right for it.

After our trip to the pool, Angel came back to our place so she could keep Isobel entertained while we took the crib apart. Her room looks so much bigger without the crib. Jon and Isobel drove Angel to work, while I quickly vacuumed. Jon and Isobel had a bath and then we read a chapter of Narnia. And I realized that I left my bathing suit at the pool. One was found matching the description I gave when I called, but as I can't remember the brand they're not sure it's mine. I'll try to stop tomorrow on my way home from work to see. I really hope it's mine as I hate bathing suit shopping and really do not want to have to go buy another one.

And Jon's just trying to get Isobel to sleep for the night. Why do weekends always go by so fast?

40/365 - A Girl After Her Daddy's Heart

Isobel woke up this morning at 7am. At that point I laid down with her and kicked Jon out - he had slept with her that night. But instead of going to sleep for an hour he played on the computer. After getting ready for the day, we headed over to Park Royal to meet up with Robyn and do some Christmas and grocery shopping. Isobel was really cranky by the end of our shopping and fell asleep on the drive home. We had some clothes for donation in the trunk, so we drove around and got the done while Isobel napped.

39/365 - The Phone Game

Isobel loves playing "where's the phone" lately. She knows that the phone has to be off the charger in order for the base ring button to work and that I can't be on it. So it's impossible to get our phone charged during the day now. And the charge gets used faster as she's always pressing buttons. I'm hoping she outgrows this soon.

It took about an hour and a half to get her to go to sleep. It's so frustrating as every once and a while she'll take fifteen minutes to put down so that I think things are finally going well with bedtime and then it takes a lot of fighting to get her to sleep other nights. Plus she still doesn't sleep through the night most nights.

38/365 - Toys

While Isobel plays with her toys, I often wonder why we bother getting her toys when she's content playing with stuff already in the house - the phone, the keyboard, the mouse, keys, tupperware, tooth brush holders, spatulas, spoons, the laundry basket, and now soap. The bar of soap from her bath is in the tupperware in front of the door and she's trying to get Jon's car key. I think she may have even eaten some of the soap - there's no chunk missing but a few teeth marks and there was some soap below her lip.

37/365 - Tired Girl

I've been waiting until the last moment of each day lately to get out the camera and Isobel's getting tired; must start taking a couple of photos when we first get home.

Since I had to stay late at work for a meeting, Isobel's godfather came over to watch her. She had lots of fun with Uncle Matty and didn't really want him to leave. Apparently he let her play the "where's the phone game" (she likes to press the handset locator button on the phone base) for half an hour and the "putting a lid back on" game for a while. When someone was vaccuming in the hall, she ran to him for comfort. Overall it was a success, so a very big thank you to Matt, especially since he volunteered to watch her again for us.

I tried to get a couple of book boxes packed, but Isobel was getting cranky and annoyed that I wasn't devoting all my attention to her so that had to be finished after she went to bed. She actually was asleep and in bed by 7:20pm which gave me some time to also work on a schedule for work for the Olympics. Now have to see if it gets approved and then figure out what has to happen to get care for Isobel also scheduled. I was still working on it when Jon got home at 9:20 pm and hence, did not do this write up. And the she woke up at 10pm so I crawled until bed with her.

It doesn't look like the apartment Jon looked at will work as there's mold on the bedroom windows. So we'll keep looking.

36/365 - Mommy's Keys

Isobel is holding one of her favorite toys, a set of keys. I still have my Saturn key on it, even though ICBC wrote it off almost a year and a half ago. I know I should have thrown it away, but I'm glad now I didn't as Isobel really seems to like this key - probably because it's large.

Today was a busy day at work. I was in training for most of it and now have lots to catch up on tomorrow, in between meetings.

None of us slept very well last night as Jon and I were both stressed out. Things are looking better as we have a tentative game plan for January, I'll be doing shift work in February and March for the Olympics so that should be workable, and my mom is willing to come out and help us for one to two months. I'm hoping that we can make things work until Isobel's two and then find a daycare for her as there seem to be more that will take kids when they're 24 to 30 months old.

And we're going to consider moving to Richmond so that we're both closer to work and live somewhere cheaper. Not looking forward to packing and unpacking, but.....

Isobel ate a whole grilled cheese sandwich (minus the crust) for dinner. Plus she ate a lot of grapes before and after. She was really good until just before dinner when she got really clinging. But she went to bed much easier for me than last night. When I snuck out of her room at 7:30pm she was snoring away.

35/365 - Isobel's New Smile

You can see all three of her teeth in this photo.

Some bad news this Monday. They're canceling the late shift at Jon's work after Christmas. So much for being able to arrange our shifts so that we would be the ones looking after Isobel all the time. I'm waiting for him to get home, but we're trying to figure out what we're going to do now.

Isobel was whiny all evening; she would freak out unless I was holding her. She was falling asleep breastfeeding after her bath. But the phone rang just after 7pm, before I put her to bed, and woke her up. When I did put her to bed, she was a good girl and laid there trying to go to sleep. But she never quite fell asleep. It's now 9pm and we're up waiting for Jon to get home from work as I had to put a load of laundry in the dryer and she freaked out when I left her bedroom. So much for getting anything done tonight.

34/365 - Skating Rink and Santa Claus Parade

Jon was supposed to meet up with Robyn this morning and do some shopping, but she ended up in the hospital again with her kidney stone - hopefully she's feeling better soon and Raven's doing okay with the two kids.

We wanted up to the Art Gallery as there were pre-Santa Claus parade events there. Plus they had a drop off for items for the Food Bank and we had a bunch of baby food items that Isobel has outgrown. Isobel was crabby before we left and we were really hoping that she'd nap while on our walk.

There were a lot of people out for the parade - more than I realized as we've never walked the route before since the parade starts outside of our apartment window.

We checked out the newly re-opened outdoor Robson Square skating rink next. I'm really glad that it's re-opened as it's something I've wanted to go to for a long time. But I think we'll have to wait until next year to take Isobel skating as you're not allowed to carry children for safety reasons, and she's still not steady enough on her feet for the crowds of people that would be there. Oh well, it gives me a year to find my ice skates and see if they still fit.

Next we went to HMV to warm up and pick up a few DVDs. Jon and I are going to get even further behind on watching stuff since we only really have the weekends after Isobel is in bed.

We then started the walk home with plans of finding a spot to watch the parade from. Isobel fell asleep just before we got to JapaDog for lunch. I love JapaDog - sushi on hot dogs is great. We then headed back to out apartment building so that we could watch the parade from there. However, since Isobel was sleeping and Jon was cold we decided to forgo the parade, as it was starting, for another year and go inside to warm up.

We managed to go through all of the clothes we have for Isobel and get those organized. Plus a bit of laundry done.

After dinner, Jon ran to the grocery store to pick up a few things while Isobel sat on my lap and had me read her stories. When Jon got home he gave Isobel her bath. We decided to skip reading Narnia tonight as she was cranky, and read her a shorter story. She convinced Jon to read her the story three times, so we probably could have read her Narnia. Jon put her to bed while I folded and put away some laundry. Now we're watching the second season of Life on Mars before it's our bed time.

33/365 - Bright Nights

We had a very busy day today and Isobel was awake before 6am and wouldn't go back to sleep.

We met up with Michelle at the crepes place near our apartment for breakfast. And then walked to Stanley Park to buy tickets for the Bright Nights train. Isobel fell asleep in the stroller and got in a nice nap. Although, Jon and I were both hoping she wouldn't sleep until later.

After purchasing tickets, we headed home, got in the car, and drove out to Poppa and Louise's house. Jon's Gran is visiting and we wanted to see her. Allison, Ryley and Jordan were also there.

Isobel was a little shy when we first arrived, but by the end of our visit was having a blast playing and especially climbing the stairs. It was a very nice visit, but had to rush home to meet up with The Birds for the train ride.

I had never been on the miniature train at Stanley Park before. Even though the lineup was a lot longer than I was expecting after buying tickets and Isobel was a little cranky I had a lot of fun and will definitely go back next year.

Afterward, The Birds came back to our place for a nice visit - Isobel had lots of fun playing with Mason and Cordy.

Isobel was up way past her normal bedtime and quickly crashed when Jon put her to bed. Hopefully, she'll sleep for a nice seven hour stretch for me tonight.

32/365 - Evening Walk

Friday at last. I've had this annoying headache for the last few days that just doesn't seem to want to go away. It's driving me crazy. I had an employee meeting at work today which just seemed to aggravate it. Got back from the meeting to find out that all these people were looking for me for various reasons. So tried to resolve some of those and then headed up to the terminal and had lunch with Nathalie.

Jon told me to take the car this morning so that he could have Isobel weighed at the nurses' station on the way to skytrain. She's now 17lb 14oz.

Met up with Jon and Isobel at the mall and was surprised to find out that Jon had called in a family day - I was a bit stressed out that I was running later than I had hoped to. We wandered around Toys R Us for a while and Isobel had a blast. We picked up a few presents and then headed home. Isobel, tired after playing at the store, napped the entire way home.

Since I hadn't planned on having Jon home for dinner, we decided to head to Urban Fair. I've heard good things about it and we also needed a couple of grocery items and wanted to get in a bit of a walk since there's no rain.

Isobel and I had a bath and then got ready for bed. I fell asleep with her, while putting her down. So much for spending an evening with Jon.

31/365 - 13 Months Old

Isobel was so cute this morning. Normally, when I sneak in to blow her and Jon and kiss before leaving for work in the morning, her head is all snuggled up to Jon. But this morning, she was snuggled up to Sammy.

Since Jon had gaming tonight, Isobel and I skytrained it home. She was not happy that I made her wear her pink and white kitty hat on the walk home; but she kept it on although she did cry the entire walk home.

My baby turned thirteen months old today. So it was time to take the monthly photo with the penguin. Isobel was not too keen on the idea, but warmed up to it, especially when she was allowed to play with her big red golf ball. Jon will hopefully walk up to the nurses' station tomorrow (or next week) and weigh her.

Every night Jon's at work, he calls us on his break. Isobel always kiss kisses the phone when he's on speakerphone with us. It's so cute and in my mind proves she's a daddy's girl; she never kiss kisses the phone when I call during the day - she's too busy laughing with daddy then.

30/365 - Little Explorer

Jon took this picture while I was at work, and I've stolen it for my daily photo. Isobel put this hat we picked up for Nicholas on her head herself. Maybe that means she's turning around to the idea of hats. Doubtful, but I can hope.

Jon was home sick today. A busy day at work with a meeting about Christmas overflow parking operations. Plus it finally sunk in that I'll have to work New Year's Eve this year - to change the parking rates for the new 21% PST that goes to Translink. At least, if things go according to plan, I should be able to log in from home and do all the changes remotely.

29/365 - Tooth Brush Holder

The picture is blurry because Isobel managed to get a smudged fingerprint on the camera (don't tell Jon). This is one of her latest favorite toys - half of a tooth brush holder, that she found in her explorations in the bath room cupboard. I have no idea what she's done with the other half; hopefully not stuck it in the base heater (I've already found one half there once). She loves to talk into it. And then tries to get us to talk into it.

I made salmon patties for dinner tonight as I needed a break from mac and cheese. Isobel ate over half of one patty, then some honeydew melon, part of a cheese bun, and a cookie - quite a lot for someone her size.

She was really good at playing by herself (primarily in the bathroom cupboard) early this afternoon. However, as soon as it was time for dinner, she's been constantly under my feet. After dinner, she just wanted to sit on me. She freaked out when I went into the DVD closet to look for some CDs. Jon's idea of cleaning is to tidy things and move them to undisclosed locations that most of the time he can't recall where he put them - possibly because he threw them out and doesn't want to tell me so that I don't scream at him - I'm a pack rat (although trying very hard to get better at not being such a pack rat) and he loves to get rid of things. I love him, I just hate his idea of cleaning (except when he washes the dishes for me as the post-pregnancy eczema makes it annoying for me to wash them). I really need to get him to take Isobel out more often without me on the weekends so that I can clean - it's just that the weekends are our only family time and I want to spend as much time with them as possible. I suppose the other option is to force Isobel to get used to me cleaning more. My goals for this week are to play CDs in the evening (hence why I was looking for them), to continue trying to use baby signs with Isobel, and to try to vacuum one night - not looking forward to the last one as Isobel's freaked of the vacuum cleaner and will scream as soon as it's out and for a long while after it's stopped.

28/365 - 10 Little Ladybugs

Back at work as it's Monday. While I was at work, Isobel pulled out this book and wanted Jon to read it to her over and over. It's the same idea and rhyming pattern as "10 Tricker or Treaters" that we had to read to her over and over again before and after Halloween; that book has gone missing somewhere in the house - we probably hid it on her as we were tired of reading it over and over. She also likes to kiss kiss the ladybugs in this book. And yes, I also had to read it to her tonight over and over again.

The other night, Isobel signed that she wanted milk - it's the only sign that I've used somewhat consistently since she was born. Despite the fact, that I was so excited about baby signing before she was born, I just never had the energy to carry through with any of it. But since she let me know she wanted milk - and no, it wasn't a perfect sign, but pretty close for her, I've decided to try introducing more signs into her daily routine and see if she picks up any of those. This week, I'm going to try to consistently sign milk, ball, help, drink, book, and more. And then I hope to learn more words the following week. Let's see how long I can keep it up though.

We had a usual evening. Dinner of mac and cheese (I think I'll get bored of it before she does), some laundry, a load of dishes (that are still sitting in the dishwasher clean), a bath with hair washing, and reading some books. She pulled down Robert Munsch's "Love You Forever"; and I made it further into it than previously (since having her) before getting teary and deciding to stop reading that one.

Usual routine of saying "night night" to the apartment and off to bed. It took her a while to fall asleep - she kept flapping her arm to keep herself awake - but she's asleep now. I'm hoping that she'll start to go back to being able to sleep seven hours without us, but since Jon said that she was snuggly and huggy today; and that she kept hugging him last night in her sleep, I have a feeling one of us will be sleeping with her for quite a while yet.

27/365 - Laughing with Uncle Brian

We missed my work Christmas party yesterday. We had planned on going, but canceled a couple of days before since the person we had originally asked to watch Isobel was unavailable, and Isobel has been so cranky with teething, we figured it was better to stay home with her.

Last night, I spent the night with Isobel. She's been insisting that one of us sleep with her and since she was in pain with the teething we relented. Now we're just relenting as we want to sleep too. I'll need to work on getting her back to sleeping on her own for long stretches again soon.

Why do weekends go by so quickly?

We had planned a games day at our place today. Matty showed up and we ordered some sushi for pick up. When Jon and Matty went to go get the sushi, the elevators in our building were down. So they went down the 21 floors to get to the car and head for sushi. When they got back, the elevator still wasn't working, so they climbed the stairs back home. Fortunately, the elevator was fixed before Brian arrived.

We played a round of Wasabi with Matt. And after Brian arrived, a very long round of Dominion. Jon also had the latest Red Dwarf Blu Ray playing in the background, so he now was to watch some Felicity for making me watch Red Dwarf. Isobel had lots of fun playing with Brian and Matty, as usual. Isobel finally fell asleep for a nap just before they left.

Quite evening with a family bath, and a couple chapters of Narnia. Hopefully, she'll go down easily tonight; but since she had such a late nap I doubt it.

26/365 - Daddy-Daughter Bath Night

I love weekends now more than ever, as it's the only real family time we have. Jon was a sweetheart last night and let me sleep; have I mentioned lately how much I love him? He got up with Isobel at 11:30 pm and had to give her a bottle to get her back to sleep, but then she slept (with a bunch of tossing and turning) until after 8am. I'm so proud of her. Jon said that she kept snuggling up to him, so she must have been cold. I really wish she would learn to love blankets as much as I do.

Isobel was cranky this morning, so we decided to go for a drive to get her to nap. We drove around Stanley Park a few times, and then decided to go get groceries, as Jon and I were starting to feel tired too. On the way out of the park, Jon heard an ad on the radio for Old Navy jeans on for $20. Since it sounded like a good price to us, we decided to head to Park Royal to get some jeans and pick up our groceries from there.

At Old Navy, Jon got two pairs of jeans, I got one and a shirt, and we got Isobel two pairs of fleece pants. Then we went to Whole Foods and Extra Foods to pick up some groceries. We were going to get a bottle of raspberry ginger ale (my favorite pop), but there wasn't any there and I didn't get any of it at Isobel's birthday party. Oh well, another time perhaps. Although we're trying to be better at not drinking a lot of pop, and trying to keep it out of the house, so now only get it if we have company coming over.

After all of that, we were too tired to go swimming as originally planned. I'll have to try to take her one evening by myself or force us to go next weekend.

Cooked a chicken, mashed potatoes, and carrots for dinner. Jon had a bath with Isobel, while I made a pie type thing with most of the leftover chicken for the freezer. I'm now just boiling up the chicken, while Jon gets Isobel to sleep. And then we'll finish watching the movie we started last night.

25/365 - Slice of Lime

Last night didn't go great. Although it could have gone a lot worse. Isobel can get out of bed, and screamed because someone wasn't sleeping with her. She also had a poopy bum, which is the first time ever that she's pooped after being put to bed for the night, and hence required a diaper change. And then when I went in to check on her before going to bed, she woke up, so I ended up sleeping with her until about 3am when I switched places with Jon.

I had today off. It was the last baby Mother Goose session. I'm really glad that the lady (Jennifer - one of the teachers) at the pool that day convinced us to sign up for it. I think Isobel has really enjoyed the sessions and I'm planning on trying to sign her up for the toddler session that starts in January.

After Mother Goose, we drove out to the airport so that Isobel would nap in the car and we could visit with Jonah, Brian's puppy as he was in the office that day. Isobel is still not impressed with small dogs, but I'm hoping that the more she's around them, the more comfortable she'll be.

We went for lunch at Milestones as one of my coworkers had sent an email out earlier in the day seeing if anyone wanted to go and as a result I was craving it. Since I wasn't sure we would make it in time to join my coworkers, and I wasn't sure if any of them would have an issue spending their lunch hour with a teething, cranky baby, we sat on our own. My apple juice, which I intended to share with Isobel, came with a lime. She freaked out until she was allowed the lime. Despite the face in the picture, she held onto the lime for quite a while, and kept putting it back in her mouth.

And as usual, we drove Jon to work and Isobel napped on the way home. The usual video call with the grandparents, dinner, phone call from Jon, and bath occurred. However, tonight Isobel was tired a little earlier than normal and wasn't yet entirely in her pajamas when she started falling asleep at the boob. I then put her in her bed and ended up laying with her until she was asleep. Hopefully, she sleeps longer than she did last night.

Now I'm waiting for the bottle bits to finish sterilizing and for Jon to get home so we can cuddle on the couch and watch a movie.

24/365 - First Time with Markers

Yesterday was not a good night. It was supposed to be mommy sleep night, but Isobel woke up at about 2am and was inconsolable until mommy can in. She ended up being awake until 3:30am, and by then I was wide awake and really cranky.

So tonight I'm going to try to get her to start going back to sleep on her own again. She was doing really well, but since she hasn't been feeling well, it's not going so well again. And it's something that she really needs to learn, as much as I hate letting her cry.

Nothing exciting to report for this evening. Really glad that I don't have to go into work tomorrow though.

23/365 - Fork

I had Isobel duty last night in order to let Jon get some sleep as he hasn't gotten a lot lately. Isobel tossed and turned less than the last couple of nights, but still woke up more than normal screaming and wanting to be comforted. Jon slept through my alarm when it went off - we use the radio station setting and since the power outage on Monday is set to static and not an actual radio station. Oh well, ended up an hour late for work. Since I've been working through lunch for the last couple of weeks I'm not too concerned about it.

Jon and Isobel brought me a sandwich for lunch and then we drove Jon to work. Isobel screamed most of the way home, unless I was talking or singing. Did not help the headache I had any.

She was whiny when we first got home, but improved as the evening went on. Had the usual video call with the grandparents, phone call from daddy, and bath. Plus we called Nana Althea to wish her a happy birthday.

Isobel is getting much better at using utensils on her own. Jon told me that she wouldn't eat her lunch today until she had tried to eat it with a fork on her own. And tonight, with dinner, she was actually successful at using the fork most of the time; she did still use her hands a lot too though. We used the fork from the really cute deer cutlery set the Schmids gave us when Isobel was born tonight for the first time.

She grabbed the juice box from the fridge tonight before dinner and ribbed the straw off it. Normally we water her juice down, but I decided to be nice and let her have one of the emergency juices.

She went to bed about the same time as normal, but fell asleep faster than normal. I'm really hoping that we're starting to get into a routine and that I'm getting better at recognizing when she's tired. I forgot to brush her teeth though - now that she has three I'm trying to work that into the bed time routine as well.

22/365 - A Girl and Her Caterpillar

Made it to work today. Had general airport training for the Olympics for a couple of hours and ended up skipping lunch, as usual, to try to get things done.

While I was at work, Isobel and Jon had a play date with Kyenta and Cate. Jon said that Isobel was a little unsure of having another baby in the apartment playing with her toys, especially Sammy. It's the first time that someone close to her age has played with her toys in our apartment; baby Cordelia has not been mobile anytime she's been over and I think there's been too many adults to realize that Mason's playing with anything. She's really good at sharing her toys when we're out and I do think that this was a good experience for her. Although, I think we should hide Sammy when others are over as we're trying to get her to have a special stuffy that she will eventually associate with sleeping - the options are Sammy, Flopsy, and a pink kitty that Jon bought her the other day. So far Sammy's still her favorite during the day and we've yet to get any night time associations.

We drove Jon to work and then headed home with the car; Isobel slept for part of the way home.

She was crabby for a lot of the evening and pooped three times for me. The last was just before we were about to get into the tub for a bath. Postponed washing her hair until tomorrow's night bath.

Jon thinks the reason she may not have been feeling well is that her lower right incisor has finally cut through. And it looks like the top left incisor has also cut through. Poor teething baby.

She's woken up and doesn't seem to be getting herself back to sleep, so off I go to cuddle with her.

21/365 - Sicky Baby

I feel like a horrible mother. Isobel ended up being sick on Sunday night and just waived all symptoms off with an excuse - she was tired because Brett and Kayla tired her out, she felt a little warm because we had the heat all the way up to dry the carpet quickier, she didn't eat a lot because she just wasn't hungry, etc. So that explains why she kept waking up and then falling back asleep before we went to bed.

She puked on Jon at midnight and I crawled into bed with her. She slept fitfully all night and actually didn't sleep a lot. Plus she was so hot to touch and I was freezing. Jon came into her room at 2am, so I could pee without her crying, and she puked again. Jon took over Isobel sleeping duty at 5am, while I emailed work to say that I wouldn't be in and crawled into our bed to try to get a few hours of sleep.

In the morning, Isobel still wasn't feeling great but was her usual happy self. Just after 9:30am the power shut off - I had forgotten that there was a planned power outage in the building. So we all got dressed and headed to the aquarium as I was convinced that our apartment would be freezing with no power. Isobel played a little bit in the kids section, but mostly just wanted to be held. And she hardly ate any of her grilled cheese for lunch. Afterwards, we went for a drive in hopes of Isobel taking a nap and trying to buy some time until the power was scheduled to be back on at home.

Jon took a family day and I slept for may four hours of broken sleep Sunday night. We headed home and relaxed for a bit. Jon watched the first Star Wars movie. Had a pancake dinner, which Isobel picked at most of a pancake, so hopefully that means she's starting to feel better.

After a quick bath with daddy, while I showered, Isobel got ready for bed. We watched the GI Joe movie we rented while Isobel and I cuddled on the couch. She fell asleep there with me and then once the movie was over, Jon put her to bed while I went to bed so I could get up for work the next morning, even though it was earlier than I'd normally go to bed. I heard Isobel get up a lot during the night though; I hope Jon was able to get some sleep.

20/365 - "Join me and I will complete your training."

Why do the weekends go by so quickly? This morning Jon took a nap on the couch and Isobel on the boob so we were late getting out the door to run a couple of errands and then drop Isobel off at Brett's. He, and his niece, have been hounding us to let them watch Isobel again, so we picked today. Since there was nothing playing at a close movie theater that either Jon or I wanted to see, we opted for grocery shopping and then apartment cleaning without a toddler.

Before dropping Isobel off at Brett's we stopped at Metrotown for a bite to eat. Isobel was not interested whatsoever in eating any lunch however. And then we quickly checked out Build-a-Bear so that we could see if they had the Star Wars outfits I saw online earlier in the week and thought Jon would like. So Flopsy is now dressed in a Darth Vader costume and Jon's working on bringing Isobel over to the dark side of the force or at least turning her into a geek.

After dropping off Isobel and getting home, we managed to clean the carpet in the living room, tidy the living room, clean the spare bathroom, move the baby bath stuff into the spare bathroom (as I'm now going to only bathe her in there), and get some tidying done in the kitchen. Overall very productive, but still lots of things I'd like to get done one day soon.

Then Brett and Kayla dropped of Isobel. She apparently cried and screamed for the first 45 minutes but then warmed up to them. And they're already stated that they want to look after her again soon. And Isobel was tuckered out. She had a quick bath, in her bath tub, and then Jon dressed her in pajamas and showed her Flopsy's new outfit. We, once again, skipped her Sunday night chapter of Narnia since she was so tired and opted to put her into bed instead. I'm really hoping that we'll be able to finish Narnia this year - I may have to convince Jon to read two chapters next weekend.

Jon and played a few rounds of a game we bought yesterday - Wasabi. It's cute; I'd play it again. Isobel woke up a couple of times while we were playing, but managed to get herself back to sleep without us. Hopefully, she'll sleep okay tonight.

19/365 - Pool Slide

Last night it was my turn to crawl into bed with Isobel when she awoke during the night and be the one she beat up in her sleep. Since I get up earlier during the week, it's normally Jon's job, but every once and a while I try to be nice to him and let him get some sleep. Although I did bring Isobel back into our bed after she had woken up and played with the toys on her bed for a little while. She's getting so smart, when I asked her for Mukmuk in the morning, she handed me her Mukmuk stuffy.

Finally Saturday. Instead of Jon taking Isobel out for a drive to nap by himself while I had some mommy time, I went with them. We picked up the Bopomo photo that was taken at the Baby Fair last month, and then went for a drive to allow Isobel to sleep before running some more errands.

Did some shopping along West Broadway and had a nice lunch before heading to the pool. We haven't been since Isobel's birthday party, and I had forgotten just how much she loves the pool. She's also getting so much more independent and just wants to go, go, go without realizing that she sinks into the water. Today was the first time in a long time that we had her try the little slide there, holding onto her the entire time, of course. And she absolutely loved it. As soon as she was off, she'd start screaming in delight and kicking to make her way back over. She'd climb out of the pool, stand beside the slide, and then try to climb on it from the side. It was really cute, but I was afraid that we might never get out of the pool.

Had a quiet evening. Ate the chicken soup that I had made earlier in the day; it was very bland, but not horrible. And let Isobel have some naked time.

Jon and Isobel took a bath, while I threw in a load of laundry and started going through Isobel's closet to pack up what's now too small for her.

Isobel seemed a bit cranky, so I decided it was her bed time, even though it was about twenty minutes earlier than normal. And Jon's now trying to get her down. I love Saturdays!

18/365 - Post Friday Bath

Jon and Isobel surprised me at work for a late lunch. I had just complained to Jon the other day that I seem to keep skipping lunch at work lately as there's so much to do and by the time lunch rolls around I'm not really hungry and get off in a couple of hours so would rather get work done. After their Mother Goose session today, Isobel fell asleep in the car and Jon wanted to extend the drive to allow her to nap longer, so he headed out to Richmond early instead of going home.

Isobel had a bath tonight and I washed her hair. She wanted to be read to again, but due to phone calls from work, I wasn't really able to read to her as much as normal. And she went to sleep without a lot of fighting tonight - which is a relief after yesterday.

17/365 - Gaming Thursday

Thursday was a busy day at work. Work seems to keep getting busier and busier and it's hard to get everything done when I am not able to bring work home most nights due to the baby. Oh well.....eventually everything at work will get done and hopefully after the Olympics things will slow down there for a bit.

Since Jon took some of his holiday time to go to Thursday night gaming, Isobel and I decided to stay in Richmond until he got off and drive to gaming with him. My work was having a 2010 Hours Party, but it was for employees only. Isobel crashed it for a few minutes so that Brett could show her off to everyone. Michelle held her for a bit and fed her a strawberry (which Isobel seemed to really enjoy as she crammed the whole thing in her mouth). And a carrot that Isobel enjoyed dipping into the dip on Michelle's plate and then eating; she also liked gnawing on the carrot. Since Isobel wasn't supposed to be at the party, we didn't stick around for too long.

I headed over to the Richmond Aquatic Center, but the teach pool was closed until 8:30 pm. So we headed to the mall for dinner (the ladies at the food court were surprised that Isobel was only one and already eating grilled cheese sandwiches) and then a quick shopping trip. Only had time for one store (and bought Isobel a really cute sweater) before it was time to go pick up Jon.

Isobel and I ended up staying at Jon's gaming as he figured it would be a shorter session this week than the week before. But around 8pm, Isobel started getting really cranky so her and I headed home and left Jon with the bus pass.

It took almost two hours to get Isobel to sleep and a lot of crying. It was very frustrating since she's been going to sleep really well for me lately. And even more frustrating realizing that it was my fault as she missed her normal routine and was overtired. Oh well, looks like I'm spending most evenings at home from now on. Although, I'm still planning on going to a few Christmas events with Isobel in December, but will not stay as late as I might have previously and will skip some until another year.

16/365 - Toilet Needs Cleaning Mommy. I'll do it!

Isobel discovered the toilet brush tonight. And managed to open up the toilet lid all the way. And yes, the bathrooms are in desperate need of cleaning. That's this weekend's chore as I find it hard just to try to be somewhat on top of laundry during the week days, especially now that Jon's back at work. I'm hoping one day that Isobel will let me do chores without being underfoot, but also dreading that day as it will mean that she's growing up and mommy and daddy are no longer as important. All part and parcel of growing up, and I am looking forward to watching her grow up, but it just seems to go so fast.

As usual, Jon and Isobel met me at work. We then drove Jon to work and took the car home; Isobel napped the entire way. Read the same books over and over again. Ate the same dinner and once again, gave Isobel some whole milk with dinner. She had a few sips of it, but seems to prefer her juice. I'm debating about mixing some formula into her milk to see if she adjusts to the taste better that way.

Bath night again. Isobel sure seems to love baths. But anyone, other than Jon, who has given her a bath has said that she didn't seem to enjoy it. Strange. Most of her bath toys are now in the bath and she's been having a blast playing with her yellow watering jug and the container I had been storing the toys in.

It did not take her as long as normal to go to sleep for me tonight. And I'm proud of myself for not falling asleep with her, like I did last night. I should go try to get some of the folded laundry put away, fold some more laundry, and get ready for tomorrow while I wait for Jon to get home.

15/365 - Visit to the Pediatrician

I left work early today to take Isobel to her pediatrician's appointment. He's happy with her development and only have to go back if referred back by our doctor for some reason. Isobel had fun walking and crawling around the hallway there. And then freaked out during her examination. I can't remember the last time I heard her cry so loud; Jon figures it was too soon after her vaccinations on Saturday and she thought she was going to get more needles. My poor baby. Dr. George recommended that we try to get her off the bottle soon and that we switch from formula to whole milk.

After her appointment, we drove Jon to work. And then went to the grocery store for some groceries. Isobel slept in the car on the way home.

We had a dinner of mac and cheese with some chicken and then a mandarin orange for desert. Isobel actually ate most of the orange and only let me have about three wedges of it. I guess I should have bought a box instead of a few. Next time. Isobel also had some milk in a sippy cup with her dinner; she didn't seem impressed with it. But we'll try again tomorrow.

Had a bath and then got into her pajamas. I put her in her robot pajamas that her daddy picked out her her; it was less of a fight than it normally is getting her into her sleepers.

She was very happy to play with the lid of her juice bottle. She kept wanting me to take the bottle off so that she could put it back on - she just has to learn to turn it now. And then she put the juice container in the tv stand with her books (pictured below as the alternative day photo).

I managed to get her to sleep by only breastfeeding instead of giving her the bottle she normally gets. Jon and I are going to try to see if we can get her down to one bottle a day - the one she gets when she wakes up in the middle of the night.

I ended up falling asleep with her and then got up shortly after Jon got home. Now time for me to go to my bed.

14/365 - Home

Since we got home so late last night, it was really hard to get Isobel to go to bed. She finally fell asleep after 10pm and was right by my feet, so I was scared to move all night in case I accidentally kicked her in the face. She didn't wake up until just after 5:30am for a bottle, so she's slowly starting to sleep better at nights.

I wasn't feeling well this morning - achy, stuffed up, and over all cold. Probably due to the stress of the ferry ride yesterday evening and not sleeping very well. So I ended up staying home today from work and in my pajamas all day.

Jon was kind enough to run to the grocery store to pick up a few items for us. Isobel and I'll have to do a grocery run tomorrow night to pick up stuff for dinners for the rest of the week.

Isobel took a mid morning nap on the couch while I laid there and watched some of The Tudors: Season 3 with Jon. And then eventually he had to go to work. Since I still wasn't feeling well after he left, I managed to get Isobel to lay down with me and take a late afternoon nap - although it was like pulling teeth to get her to go to sleep.

Dinner of left over chicken stew from the freezer, a phone call from Jon, and then a bath for Isobel. After the bath she was so happy being naked, that I let her run around for a while. And then she started to get cranky shortly after getting her sleeper on.

Read her 10 Tricker or Treaters a bunch of times - she likes to knock on the page where the five kids in the story knock on a door and then made her up a small bottle and crawled into bed with her. She did a little better at trying to go to sleep for me than when Jon first went back to work - she laid down most of the time and tried to go to sleep. But she kept wanting to pull at my hair, and only a few strands at a time.

It sounds horrible, and I know it's partly because I'm not feeling well, but I'm already looking forward to Saturday and making Jon take her somewhere so that I can get some mommy time - even if it's only to clean the bathroom in peace and quiet. Since it's only Monday, Saturday seems a long way off and I'm not sure I'm going to make it. I was more impatient with Isobel tonight than normal and I feel guilty about it - no wonder moms don't get sick very often; it's hard to rest when you've got a one year old following you around everywhere demanding attention.

13/365 - Uncle Klaus' Memorial

The reason we went to Victoria was for my Uncle Klaus' Celebration of Life. It was on the Sunday afternoon. We saw a lot of my relatives. Isobel was well behaved, for the most part, but started getting really tired.

We headed straight to the ferries after leaving the memorial. And had to wait about two hours as the first ferry was full. Thankfully, Isobel slept for an hour. We ended up on the same ferry as a lot of my relatives.

It was an interesting ferry ride. Due to the wind it was quite bumpy and it took three tries before the ferry successfully docked and about an extra 45 minutes.

12/365 - Busy Day

We had a very busy day on Saturday. First thing in the morning, Isobel got her one year vaccinations. Jon held her down this time. I think this was the hardest vaccination to date for me. There were four needles, Isobel is so much more aware of what is happening than the previous ones, and she cried in pain. Plus there was a lot of blood from the needles. But the doctor was happy with Isobel's progress - especially her little protruding belly. She's still a tiny baby (3 percentile for weight, 10% for height, and 25% for head circumference).

After Isobel's doctor appointment we headed to the ferry to go over to Victoria. We checked into our hotel and then headed downtown to check out the wax museum and the Royal BC Museum. Than went to the Spaghetti Factory for dinner before heading back to the hotel for the night.

11/365 - Baguette Time

I think Isobel fell out of her bed last night. Jon and I were woken up at 1am to Isobel crying. When I got to her room, she was on the floor. She didn't hurt herself though. But I'm a little worried and thinking about getting the side bed thingy for toddlers.

I had today off so Isobel and I went to Mother Goose while Jon stayed home and got some much needed cleaning done. Mother Goose goes until the end of November and then there's a month and a half break before the next session. I'm planning on signing her up for the toddler session in January.

We walked with Jon and had lunch at Baguette Time. Then Isobel and I headed home after renting a chick flick. While I was on mat leave I had intended on walking up to the video store lots and watching lots of videos. Never did that though - it was too cold outside and I never wanted to get out of pajamas as I was always covered in baby puke. Plus it was harder to get anything done than I had imagined and if it wasn't a necessity, I wasn't going to bother.

Isobel took a nap at 4:30pm, just as I had started dinner. Woke her up to turn dinner off and then she slept for almost an hour.

Managed to get some laundry done. At least one more load to wash and a bunch to fold.

Had a bath and now trying to work on getting her down for bed, but she keeps reaching for things she's not supposed to. I've got to finish laundry and pack for our trip to Victoria tomorrow once she's asleep.

10/365 - These Boots Are Made For Walking

After Jon dropped Isobel off at work today we headed to Richmond Center to get her some winter shoes. I ended up getting this little pink boots (which I'm sure Jon will love as they're pink) which will keep her feet warm, but not allow her to walk around outside. I was really hoping on finding something that would also let her walk around outside, but it's better to restrict her to walking inside for a while longer - otherwise I'd have a very wet and dirty baby every time she dropped to her knees to crawl. They're still a tiny bit big so we should get all of the winter out of them.

The we skytrained it home.
