On Wednesday, Angel watched Isobelly for us downtown. I registered Isobel for a week of dance class in July. After work I took the train and met up with them at the playground. We went back to Angel's house after Isobel had an accident to get her into dry clothes and have a snack. Isobel ate an apple. We then headed home. Isobel fell asleep on the train and since Jon was almost off work, we met him at Chapter's once he got off. We stopped in for sushi dinner and then bought some blueberries for Isobel on the way home as she'd eaten all of hers already.
On Thursday, Robyn and the kids watched Isobel. After I got home, Isobel and I went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. We went inside to change after an accident and were still outside when Jon got home.
Jon had Friday off. And I left work early. Frances drove me to Isobel's dance class, and she was so excited to see me that it made my day. We stopped quickly at the park on the way home. Michelle came over in the afternoon to watch Doctor Who with us. Isobel and I went outside for a little while to play in the nice weather. Jon and I had date night in the evening. Isobel spent the evening with Cynthia, Nicholas and Daniel while Jon and I went to the Afgan Horseman for dinner (so yummy) and to Kate and Theo's play on Granville Island (which was very entertaining). Got home late but it was a great day.
Saturday was not as nice outside. We ran some errands in the late morning, including getting Isobel some ballet shoes for dance class. I took an nap in the afternoon while Jon set up the tent in the living room. Isobel and I slept in the tent and Jon joined us at 5am when Isobel woke him crying as I had gone to the bathroom.
On Sunday we headed over to Matty's to watch the hockey game (Canucks won) and play some games. Were there all day. Ate a lot. Cally, April, Bobby, Brian and the Birds were also there. Jon and Isobel slept in the tent that night.
On Monday (Victoria Day), we headed to the Vancouver Zoo. It was fun, but really expensive. I think the two person bike was Isobel's favorite part. And then the cotton candy. She also enjoyed the minature train.
On Tuesday, Cally and Michelle watched Isobel for us. I managed to watch bits of the Canucks game and we've made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs! Way to go Canucks! We started reading Jacob Two Two and the Hooded Fang to Isobel.
Also, Isobel is slowly starting to go to sleep for us by herself at night.

Jon's Gran flew back to Bella Coola on Wednesday, so Jon and Isobel went to the South Terminal to see her off. As a result Jon would not have time to get Isobel to the babysitter, so I left work early to spend some time with her. We re-introduced eggs back into our diet.
On Thursday, Robyn and the kids watched Isobel.
On Friday, Michelle watched Isobel. It was nice to see her again after so long.
On Saturday, we went to EPIC with Cynthia and Nicholas. Isobel absolutely adores Nicholas. Had a lot of fun; Jon and Isobel left early as she was tired. We also got to visit with Julia K who was in for EPIC, helping a friend.
On Sunday, we went to Jon's gaming. Isobel had an accident at the Toy Store (she always goes there) so we went home and the two of them hopped into a bath. We then went to Karla's so we could borrow the first four episodes of Game of Thrones and then headed grocery shopping. I was so tired, I took an hour nap before getting up to put Isobel to bed and watch the first episode of Game of Thrones with Jon.
I ended up taking the day off on Monday to sleep. I was so tired I slept until almost 11am when Jon and Isobel finally woke me up. Jon went to work and Isobel and I played. We had races outside and a picnic snack in the living room in the afternoon. In the afternoon, just before Jon got home, she was complaining that her stomach hurt. She was constipated. I'm wondering if this is a reaction to the eggs we've just reintroduced into our diets or something else. I suppose we should wait a couple of more days before introducing something new to see how she does. In the evening, I went to a book signing at KidsBooks for Jeanne Birdsall who is writing the Penderwick series for children. Picked up the first two in the series, with autographs, for Isobel. Isobel was just about to fall asleep when I got home. Watched another episode of Game of Thrones before going to bed.
On Tuesday, ....Cally watched Isobel for us.
27/52 - Happy Mother's Day
On Wednesday, Angel watched Isobel for us at her place downtown. Isobel had an accident there so Angel washed her clothes. They had fun playing with Angel's guitar and Hungry, Hungry Hippos. After work I took the train to pick up Belly. We went to the playground near Angel's place and I ran to the grocery store to pick up a couple of items. Angel gave Isobel a harmonica which Isobel loves. We walked to the train station and all of the trains were so full that it wasn't until the third one came that I could make it on with a stroller and it was for one that I'd have to get off and transfer to another train. Plus I was running really late to meet up with Jon to drop off isobel before heading to a class I had signed up for that evening. At the stop before we had to transfer, Isobel announced she had to pee. She was able to hold it until the next stop and while we went into the hotel across the street and looked for a bathroom. She did fall on the floor though getting out of her stroller and started to cry. I was feeling really stressed by this time. Jon called just after 6 to see where we were, and I begged him to come get us. He could have just droped me off in time for my class, but I was feeling too stresed so we ran an errand and went home.
On Thursday, Robyn and the kids watched Isobel for us. Isobel and I dropped the car off for Jon so that we could go to gaming and we walked home. Made chicken and roasted veggies for dinner. Had a relaxing evening with Bells.
I took Friday off. I finally made it to one of Isobel's dance classes for this session. It was really nice to see how much she's improved since the last session. She listens and tries to do what the teacher asks. She did keep running back and forth between Jon and I, but that was only because she's not used to me being there. We rented some videos and then headed home. Jon went to work. Isobel and I took a long nap in the afternoon.
Saturday started off raining, so we drove instead of training it to Isobel's doctor appointment. It was just a 2.5 years old check up. Isobel now weighs 25 pounds and is 85 cm tall. She's still small, but following her gorwth curve so there's no reason to worry. We then went to Mountain Equipment Co-op to use some gift certificates I had gotten from work. We all ended up with a new shirt and Isobel got a sun hat. We stopped at Imperial for Free Comic Book day and then headed home. I took a nap. And then Jon took a nap. We then went for a walk and checked out the muddy field across the street from us. And took some pictures (including this one). We found out Jon's Gran was in town until Wednesday morning. Isobel fell asleep easily since she didn't take naps like us.
Sunday was Mother's Day. Isobel and Jon had made me a Mother's Day card. And Isobel made another card, by herself, for my boobies. Did I wean her too early? She's definately Jon's. We tidied up the house a little in the morning, and then headed downtown to visit with Jon's gran while she's here. While there his aunt called and asked if we could drive Gran to her place, and after agreeing, she said that she had some errands to run first but should only be an hour. We ended up grabbing lunch from Baguette Time (not on our diet) and some blueberries for Isobel at 1pm since neither Jon nor I ate breakfast. At 2pm we left for Jon's aunt. And waited until almost 3pm before they arrived home. Isobel napped in the car. Kind of put a kink in my mother's day plans. And gave me the oppurtunity to think about a Snow family potlatch that is happeneing next April and made me realize that I do not really want to go to it. It would end up being approximately 24 hours in the car (there and back) over a five day period, which doesn't sound like fun with a then 3 year old, and it would mean not doing an Easter Egg Hunt at home with Isobel. We had a lot of fun this Easter and I think Isobel will still be at a perfect age next year to enjoy it. So, I can thank Jon's aunt for giving me the time to realize that Isobel and I will be staying in town next Easter; it's up to Jon to decide what he wants to do but I'd prefer to have him spend the time with Isobel and me as she's only little once and I don't want to have him miss out on how excited she gets when she finds an egg. We then headed to Minoru Park for some bunny feeding, picked up some books on hold at the library, and went grocery shopping. Ate chicken and roasted veggies for dinner; Jon really liked the veggies done like that. Jon and Isobel hopped in the bath while I got lunch ready for Monday. I ended up slicing two fingers while chopping a mango for Isobel. Not a good day for me.
Back to work on Monday. Cally watched Isobel for us. Jon and I borrowed some pots from Matt's so now Isobel and I have to transplant some plants this week. I woke Isobel up shortly after picking her up as Cally's grandmother had passed away, and she wanted to get home to check on her mom. Hope their family's doing okay. Jon got home and we ate salmon with too much garlic for dinner - I guess I should leave the cooking to Jon; Isobel had actually filled up on crackers before dinner. Isobel and I took a bath so I could wash popsicle out of her hair. Michelle called us to say that they were home from their vacation in Mexico; Isobel was excited to talk to her.

Jon took Isobel downtown on Wednesday for Angel to watch her. As it was pouring rain, they didn't make it to the playground like Angel had planned, but Isobel had fun playing with stuffed animals and Angel's guitar. After I met up with them we headed to Choices for some grocery shopping before taking the train home.

On Friday, Jon and Isobel went to dance class in the morning. They picked me up later than normal so Jon was a few minutes late for work. We started our elimination diet to determine what food Isobel is sensitive to.
On Saturday, we picked up April and went to Port Co Drexoll. We got home and I took a nap. Had a late dinner and went into work after reading Isobel a good night story. The contract for the parking cashiers changed for May 1 and I had to make sure people had access to the system or didn't after a certain point. Isobel peed the bed about 1am in the morning, so Jon and Isobel moved to our bed since I was at work. Saturday also makred 1 week of Isobel sleeping without diapers and only two accidents. We suspect that the one on Saturday night was as a result of having dinner so much later than normal.
Jon and Isobel picked me up from work the next morning after 7:30am. I took a nap until just after noon and then had lunch. We went to Watermania; which was fun but I think the wave aspect scared Isobel. Stopped at Richmond Country Farms on the way home and picked up some plant and more fruits and veggies. Since it was so nice out, Isobel and I painted the teracotta pot we cought for her and planted the flower she picked out. Isobel and I had a bath while Jon made dinner.
Cally watched Isobel for us on Monday. It was miserable outside. Isobel threw a huge temper tantrum when we got home. I had to sit down in front of the front door to prevent her from running out after carrying her kicking and screaming from the car. It was not fun but I survived as did she. Eventually she calmed down and the rest of the hour waiting for Jon to get home from work was spent playing together. Had leftovers for dinner. Isobel did not want to go to bed; she didn't end up falling asleep until after 10:30pm.
Cally watched Isobel again on Tuesday. For the second day in a row, Isobel was napping when I arrived and did not wake for a while after me getting there. We went home. No temper tantrums, thank goodness. Since it was a nice day, we went outside on the balcony and potted some more of our plants; I now need to go get more pots. Jon came home and we had leftovers for dinner. I made up a tuna casserole for dinner for the next night; not sure how it's going to taste as I had to use completely different ingredients than normal to keep with our diet. Isobel turned 2.5 years old today. We read a lot of stories and put her to bed later than normal since she had had a long nap. I fell asleep putting her to bed.
25/52 - Happy Easter
Wednesday Angel came over to watch Isobel for us. They both had colds. They watched Tangled. Isobel wanted to ride Angel's bike. Isobel slept through the night on Wednesday.
After I left for work on Thursday, Jon crawled into bed with Isobel. When she woke up, she crawled over him and out of bed. After waiting for a couple of minutes Jon started to fake cry; Isobel came into her room and said "it's okay I'm here". Robyn and the baby birds watched Isobel for us. After walking them to their car, Isobel and I took the tent and air mattress out of storage. The next couple hours, while waiting to go get Jon from work, were spent listening to Isobel ask me to put the tent up and me telling her that daddy would do it after he got home. We went grocery shopping after getting Jon and then put up the tent.
Since it was Good Friday, neither Jon nor I had to work. We took the Canada Line downtown and had lunch at Fat Burger. Isobel fell asleep on the way. We then met up with Bobby and April and went to Dr Sun Yat Sen Garden. We had great weather. Stopped at New Town bakery before heading home. I think I ended up with Isobel's cold as I was achy and feverish. I ended up going to bed early. Jon and Isobel took a bath and then slept in the tent. When I woke up in the middle of the night, I debated about joining them in the tent, but didn't want to step on Isobel while trying to get into the tent and figured I was still too feverish to actually sleep with them.
On Saturday, we also ventured into Vancouver. This time to do the Cambie Street Easter Egg Hunt with Cynthia and Nicholas. Another beautiful day. Isobel dyed her first Easter Egg at Whole Foods and manged to pick up some extra chocolate. As usual, Isobel had lots of fun with Nicholas and would get upset whenever he was out of her sight. Since I didn't get to sleep in the tent, we decided to leave it up one more night in the living room. I think it was the first time ever Isobel actually asked to go to bed. And she even fell asleep quickly. I on the other hand, did not sleep very well in the tent. Oh well....
The Easter Bunny arrived sometime on Saturday night and when Isobel woke up on Sunday, she was excited to search the apartment for eggs. She actually wanted to find more eggs. The picture is from Easter morning after she collected all her eggs. I think the stamps and Playmobil pandas were a bigger hit than the chocolate, although she does seem to like the chocolate too. We spent the rest of the morning tidying up and playing Angry Birds (Jon downloaded it to the PS3 and I've become a little obsessed). Karla, Amy, Bram, and baby Annelies came over for games and dinner. We cooked a turkey and mashed potatoes, Karla brought yummy carrot cake muffins with cream cheese icing and Amy and Bram brought a salad and buns. We played Ticket to Ride. Isobel did really well with Annelies (who's 6 months already); finding toys for her to play with, handing her things, being very gentle and giving her kisses. We even let her hold the baby for a minute. It was really cute! It was a very enjoyable evening; we'll have to plan something again soon. We put Isobel to bed without a diaper on Sunday night and she did not pee the bed!
We had a lazy Easter Monday. It was raining outside, but Isobel and I ventured out for a bit to splash in the puddles and give Jon some down time. We made turkey shepard's pie and turkey stock. We took a family nap for almost two hours. Karla dropped off some yummy homemade stuffing for me. Jon and Isobel took a bath. Isobel took a really long time to go to sleep. Looks like I need to stop the weekend naps. Isobel did not wear a diaper and did not have any accidents. We put her to bed without a diaper again.
Tuesday was back to work. Easter was really late this year, but I really like extra long weekends! Cally was sick, so Jon took some time to watch Isobel and picked me up at 2pm. Isobel and I painted on the patio in the afternoon.
24/52 - Easter Egg Hunt with Nicholas
Wednesday, Jon and Isobel picked me up early and Jon went in a little late. Isobel and I picked Jon up after work and went grocery shopping.

Friday, Isobel and Jon had dance class in the morning. They picked me up from work and we drove Jon to work. Isobel and I picked Jon up from work and we went to the mall and library.
On Saturday we met up with Cynthia and Nicholas for an Easter Egg Hunt at City Square Mall. We didn't win the prizes, but Isobel had a lot of fun playing with Nicholas. She got a lady bug painted on her cheek. I got rocket popsicle molds and some fruit. We then rushed home to meet up with some friends who were coming over for a sushi dinner and games to say bye to Matt before he headed up North the next day.
On Sunday, we picked up Matt from his place and drove him to the airport. I went to work for a few hours, while Jon and Isobel had breakfast with Matt. They picked me up just after noon and Isobel fell asleep on the way home. We then went to Jon's mom place for lunch. Ran some errands on the way home.
I went to work on Monday, but Jon came and got me early as Isobel had developed a cold and was snotty and whiny. We watched Tangled in between cries of "snot".
23/52 - Preschool Registration
Jon was not feeling well on Wednesday, so he stayed home with Isobel. They picked me up later at work so that I could try to get a few extra things done.
Robyn and the kids watched Isobel on Thursday. We picked up Jon from work and went to Ikea for dinner and then did some grocery shopping.
Isobel started dance class again on Friday; Jon took her. It's the longer class this session and Jon said that she did really well at listening and following instructions. I'd like to take a Friday off and go with them. Brett took Isobel out to lunch on Friday as I had a card making class at work over lunch. And a big thanks to my coworkers for keeping Isobel entertained while I was in a meeting (after Jon dropped her off) and while I got some work done before leaving at my normal time.
We were up early on Saturday to register Isobel for preschool. We arrived at 7:15am and were twentieth in line. Three hours later, she was signed up for afternoon preschool three times a week starting in September. She even made a friend while we were filling out paperwork and waiting. We went home for a bit and then headed into New West for Isobel's first naturopath appointment. We have to start giving her probiotics in her juice and do an elimination diet to determine if she is sensitive to lactose and anything else. Should be good for all of us. Our camera battery died so this picture is actually from the next day. We came home and I got comfy on the couch and finished watching the third season of Being Erica. We went to Kate and Theo's for Theo's birthday party; Isobel had lots of fun playing with Tea.
Sunday Jon had gaming in Kits so Isobel and I went with him. We stopped in at Kids Books first. Isobel was tired and a little cranky when it was time to go home. Had a lazy evening.
I woke up an hour before my alarm on Monday, not feeling well. I kept hitting snooze once the alarm did go off and then ended up calling in sick. I slept until Jon went to work. And then Isobel and I went outside to enjoy the sunshine for a bit. We painted, took and bath and then had a really long nap (about two hours). Jon came home and we went outside again while the banana muffins Isobel and I made him were baking. Jon and Isobel took a bath and then time for bed.
Tuesday....I was back at work so Cally watched Isobel for us. Isobel was very successful at going potty for Cally. I forgot George at Matt's when we left. Isobel wanted to take a bath when we got home so we did. Jon came home and we watched some Mad Men as we ate dinner and then put Isobel to bed.
22/52 - 29 Months Old
On Wednesday, Michelle watched Isobel. They watched Tangled, and Michelle taught Isobel to call it Punzel. Isobel and I went out to the playground at our complex to wait for Jon to get home. Isobel was able to climb up the slide itself for the first time. We had taco stuff on rice for dinner; Jon prefers chips to rice but I really liked the rice with it. Next time we'll do rice for me and chips for Jon. Jon gave isobel a bath and washed her hair.
Thursday was my birthday. My coworkers took me out for Vietnamese at lunch. Robyn and the baby birds came to watch Isobel while Jon and I were at work. Isobel and I walked over to the mall to play with the toy houses while we waited for Jon to get off work. Grandma and Grandpa paid for an early Easter present for Isobel - a wagon; we made arrangements to pick it up the next morning though. We took the Canada Line downtown after Jon got off work and went to my favorite sushi place for dinner. Grabbed some cupcakes and did a tiny bit of shopping. Jon walked us to the train and then went out with some friends. Isobel wanted daddy most of the way home and was worried that Jon would be scared of the dark being by himself.
On Friday, Jon and Isobel picked up her wagon in the morning before coming to get me from work; I decided to leave early since I didn't take my birthday off as per normal. We went home and put Isobel's wagon together, with her help. Jon went to work late, and I spent part of the afternoon pulling Isobel and her wagon around the hallways. We picked Jon up from work and headed to Matty's for pizza and games. Isobel ate a lot of junk food and was up way past her bedtime.
On Saturday, we headed out to get a couple of family photos in front of cherry blossoms since I love them. Jon made us perogies and kolbassa for lunch and then we took the train to meet up with Cynthia and Nicholas for the afternoon. Have I mentioned how much I enjoy hanging out with them and how much Isobel adores Nicholas? She would call for him whenever he was out of her sight. We came home with a bunch of stuff from the Kids Market - a Batman mask for Isobel, a pair of ladybug Babylegs, a water bottle for me, a stainless steel bottle for Isobel, some bead necklaces for Isobel, and a Playmobil toy with cats that Isobel really likes. We made plans to see Cynthia and Nicholas again in two weeks before heading home. Jon and I weren't hungry, but we made Isobel a late dinner of perogies. Isobel and I had a bath before bed.
Sunday morning was rather lazy. I had a free container gardening class by the City of Richmond in the early afternoon. I walked there and then met Jon and Isobel at the mall after so that we could pick up some buns and veggies for stew. Jon pulled Isobel there in her wagon. Isobel was a little cranky on the way home, but ended up falling asleep in her wagon. She woke up after getting home, but was still cranky so crawled into my lap, making me put away the work I was doing for work, and slept for another 45 minutes. Jon made stew for dinner and then took a bubble bath with Isobel. It was my turn to put her to bed and Jon had to come in and remind me to take her monthly photo before we actually fell asleep (bad mommy for not doing it earlier when I had remembered). Eventually, I fell asleep with Isobel in her room.
As usual, Cally watched Isobel for us on Monday. They had lots of fun hiding from mommy before I got there. Came home and Isobel wanted to take a bath; I managed to distract her with her Playmobil kittens, painting and Cailou until Jon got home though. After a dinner of left over stew, Isobel was finally able to take her bath. Jon and I finished Chuck Season 3.
Tuesday....Cally watched Isobel. We had stir fry for dinner, although I had to boil Isobel some baby potatoes and carrots since she didn't eat the stir fry. Isobel and I took a bath. Read stories and went to bed. She's really keen on Purple, Green and Yellow by Munsch right now; thanks Annie for suggesting it.
