90/365 - Bubbles in the Bath

Our good flash is dead. I'm hoping that Jon takes it in tomorrow to get it fixed; I miss it.

I'm sick again. Super achy, congested, head ache, and can't get the right body temperature. Just when I thought I was finally getting over it.

We went for a walk this morning/afternoon and ran some errands. We got some more juice cups for Isobel as well as more juice and diaper genie refill. Then we headed to Richmond Center and got my parents some Olympic Canada mitts that they wanted, some veggies for stir fry and some bbq pork from the place Michelle recommended. We were going to stop at the library as well, but I was starting to feel done.

We got home and watched "Whip It"; Jon picked it up on our travels earlier that day. I really enjoyed it. i was hoping that Isobel would nap on me while we watched it, but no such luck. So instead, she shared her box of Smarties from Annika's birthday goody bag with us.

Jon cleaned up the kitchen and then I made chow mien for dinner. Jon's given Isobel her bath and I think I'll be heading to bed soon to sleep off some of this achiness. Jon has tomorrow off to look after Isobel and I'm working normal hours, but my Olympic schedule starts this week.

89/365 - Annika's Sixth Birthday Party

Last night was supposed to be my turn at sleeping with Isobel. However, at 2am I called Jon to take over as I hadn't been able to get her back asleep and was feeling achy.

We got up early in the morning for Isobel's swim lesson. It was Jon's turn to go into the pool with her. Underwater submersion was this week's topic.

I had planned on going shopping for Annika's birthday present after swimming lessons, but I was feeling so horrible that we went home instead. I took a Tylenol and then a nap for just over an hour. We ended up giving Annika cash for her birthday; remind me next year to be more organized for Annika's birthday.

We then drove out to Chilliwack for the afternoon. Annika's part y was at the school gym where Ava's had been held. Isobel had a blast playing with the balls from the gym equipment room.

Alida did ice cream sundaes for the party. We had packed Jon's lactaid, but he ate more ice cream than he should of.

On the way home, I couldn't get warm even though we had the car heat almost to full blast. When we got home, I was achy again and freezing. And then I threw up. It's very rare for me to throw up. So we ordered take out dinner from Mad Greek - I only had lemon chicken soup. And then I went to bed at 7pm wearing thermal underwear underneath my pjs. And Jon was in charge of bathing and getting Isobel to sleep.

88/365 - Cowgirl

Friday at last. Made it through work and then drove home. Isobel and I walked Jon to work. He took her in to say hi to some people and then Isobel and I ran some errands. She fell asleep while running errands, so that was nice.

Got home and nothing too exciting to report. I had to pull Isobel and her horse all over the apartment. She went to bed just after 7:30pm as she was getting cranky. I'm just waiting for Jon to get home from work.

87/365 - Mommy's Night Out

I woke up in the middle of the night last night to find Jon playing on the computer. I went back to bed, but slept horribly.

After rushing home from work I arrived to a cranky baby. She didn't nap at all for Jon and apparently was ready for me to get home an hour before I was scheduled to. So she had one of her breastfeeding dozes for almost two hours. We then got up and I tried to get some food into her.

Just before 5pm, when Jon was leaving work, to make his way to the dentist for a root canal, I drove Isobel to Michelle's. Michelle had agreed to watch Isobel for me while I went to an awards dinner for work. When I left Isobel was crying.

The dinner was really nice and even though I had been hesitant about going I enjoyed myself. The guest speaker was Veronica Brenner who won a silver medal at 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake. I really enjoyed her speech, but ducked out after it as the award portion was starting as it was getting past Isobel's normal bed time and I was scared she'd be getting cranky for Michelle.

On the way to the car, I called Jon to see if he was home and to convince him to come with me to pick up Belly. He was waiting for me on the side of the road, watching a bunny on the grassy area. We got to Michelle's and yes, Isobel was getting tired. But she stopped crying shortly after I left and had a great time. Michelle said that she loved bbq pork and refused to eat anything else - I'll have to get the recipe from Michelle or find out where she gets her bbq pork from. Michelle's friend, Adela was also over with her boys, so Isobel had three boys (Michelle's son and Adela's two) to play with. They were impressed that she interacted well with other kids and adults despite not being in daycare.

Got home and of course, Isobel wanted to breastfeed. I read her the same story book twice and Jon's now putting her to bed with a bottle.

86/365 - Daddy's Trip to the Dentist

I took the Canada Line to work this morning. It took me 40 minutes. And I plan on starting to do that now. My workplace has decided that our parking is a taxable benefit (which I'm okay with). The part that I'm not okay with is that they've decided that the employees that work in my building should be taxed at the highest parking rate instead of the rate 99% of employees are being taxed at. And if I move to the location where the majority of other employees park it will add 20 minutes to my commute time each way. Which is an issue when I have to rush home to trade off the baby so Jon can make it to his work on time. Plus our President regularly parks in the most expensive public lot and there's no way they're adding $50 a day for parking as a taxable benefit to his pay cheque. This whole situation probably annoys me more than it should.

I left work early today as Jon had a dentist appointment to look at his cracked tooth and someone needed to watch Isobel. We went with him though. Our dentist is really close to our old apartment and it was a bit strange to be heading downtown. Jon had to make another appointment for tomorrow evening to get some work done and then will have to make one more after that in the future for this issue.

After the dentist, we stopped at the dutch pancake place by our old apartment. I like the chain of restaurants, but never made it to that one when I lived two minutes away.

And then a quick stop into our old (but newly renovated) Safeway for a couple of items and into our old library to replace the library card that was in my purse when it was stolen. Now I just need to get a Richmond library card one of these days.

Isobel fell asleep on the way home and managed to stay asleep for the elevator ride to our apartment.

Jon left for work and Isobel and I tried to get a few things done. We went through a couple of boxes and got one ready to go to the storage locker. We got one load of laundry into the washer and dryer. Made Isobel a grilled cheese for dinner and a cut up pear for dessert.

And then we had our usual bath. And read lots of bed time stories. Made Isobel a bottle and got her to bed. I think I only had to lay down with her for about twenty minutes. Here's hoping it takes tonight. Jon should be getting off of work soon, but he's going to stop at his current boss' going away party which is at the pub we can see from our living room window.

85/365 - First Real Word

I was back at work today. Jon called in sick again. I'm still stuffed up and coughing away; I just can't seem to shake this cold.

To go with our left over chicken stew, I made Grandma Mayes' baking powder biscuits. Isobel brought her stool over and so wanted to help. Next time I may have to let her try doing the kneading. They were very yummy.

So Jon agreed with me that Isobel's first real word is "bath". She says it most nights for about a week now whenever we go to start filling the tub or get into it. But her first attempt at a word was "mum-mum" - used primarily for me and food. She also says dada.

The other top canine is also starting to push through. Looks like the rest of her teeth may come in faster than the first few.

84/365 - Fifth Tooth

And a baby covered in snot. She doesn't like it when we try to wipe the snot from her nose, instead she prefers to use her sleeve to spread it across her face. Oh well....

But I think I can officially say that her other top incisor has cut through. It's lower down than it was yesterday.

I crawled into bed with Isobel when she started to cry around 10pm. Just after midnight she was crying again and I was trying to get her back in when Jon came in and took over. He just wanted the blanket that is on Isobel's bed to snuggle with since he's a sicky and decided to stay with her. I returned to bed but kept waking up coughing.

Since Jon was pretty bad with the cold last night I stayed home on a family day today. That gave him a chance to take a morning nap without Isobel. I was able to get most of the kitchen organized. Only one cupboard left to do and it's the tupperware/pots and pans cupboard so never stays neat for long.

Jon started feeling a little better this afternoon, and Isobel was super cranky so we watched Angels and Demons while I nursed Isobel to sleep.

Had a late dinner and then some video calls - grandma and Auntie April. Now Jon's trying to get Isobel to bed.

83/365 - Looking After a Sicky Daddy

I think Isobel's trying to take Jon's temperature with a popsicle stick in this picture. So Jon has the cold full blast now.

I slept with Isobel last night, and she didn't sleep as well as the night before. However, she did sleep in a bit. But I'm tired today as a result of not getting enough sleep. She kept trying to push me off of the bed as well, so I had to sleep at strange angles.

I was trying to get the kitchen cleaned and organized today. Since Jon was sick it didn't go as well as I had hoped. Oh well, maybe next weekend. This afternoon he asked if I would stop organizing the kitchen and take Isobel for a walk to get him some raspberry gingerale. So Isobel and I went for a walk. We stopped at London Drugs but couldn't find any raspberry gingerale there, so headed to Save on Foods. Isobel fell asleep in her stroller, with her feet on the stroller bar, for most of the grocery store. Decided to pick up some groceries as well since we were there.

Got home, and then started dinner of chicken stew. I gave Isobel her bath and now Jon's laying down with her to see if she'll sleep. I think I'm going to bed early tonight as I'll have to get up with her again as Jon's still sick.

Also it's my god daughter's sixth birthday today. Happy Birthday Annika! Her birthday party is next weekend.

82/365 - Aberdeen Center

Isobel manged to sleep for about eight hours straight, by herself. Of course, Jon and I didn't sleep for a straight hours, but....I'm very proud of her. My snoring ended up driving Jon to the couch.

Since none of us are feeling great we decided to have a lazy Saturday. Just as we were getting ready for a walk, Matty called. He was at Aberdeen Center with his brother and his girlfriend, so we headed there for a visit. It was our first time there.

Jon and Matty followed Isobel around the $2 Japanese store while I did some shopping there. We got Isobel a wooden eggplant that you can cut in half. She seems to like it, which means I get to get her more wooden fruit and veggies that you cut in half. I remember seeing them when I visited my cousin and his family years ago when they lived in Japan and I thought they were the coolest things. An American company also makes a wooden sushi set that I'd like to get Isobel one day - and maybe I'll stop playing with it long enough for her to play with it.

We replaced our rice cooker while there. The same style, but slightly smaller version.

And then stopped at the food court for lunch. Jon went for western food, while I had some veggie steamed buns and this pumpkin and red bean thing. I intended to share with Isobel, but she wanted nothing to do with my food. Hope she starts to like Asian style food soon as we live in Richmond and that's our main options. Plus I really like a lot of it. Matty and his company left us to go do more shopping at another mall.

We then walked home, making a few stops on the way. Took the park route, but sadly no bunnies for Isobel. She also fell asleep for a bit of the walk.

81/365 - Belly's Stool

I slept with Isobel last night. She kept waking up and signing for milk or crying as she couldn't breathe properly. Jon switched places with me around 5 am . At least he got some sleep.

Made it into work. Went to my first of the Olympic daily briefings at the airport. It was actually interesting. And then somehow the day just seemed to go by really quickly.

I was late leaving work to come home and as such didn't call Jon, as usual, to let him know I was on my way. And of course my blackberry has no battery power, not to mention that it's illegal to make calls when driving. So I rushed home, hoping to find them waiting for me in the parking lot, but no. So on the floor of our apartment is a note from Jon telling me that he's walking to work and will meet me there. I quickly take my top off (sorry Jon, there was a tank top underneath) as I had decided to clean one of the coin sorters at work today and had coin dust on me and didn't want Isobel to inhale any of it and then ran down to the parking lot to drive to Jon's work.

I saw them on the way. I suspect that I just missed them when I got home. I pulled into a parking lot, and Jon left me Isobel and continued on his way to work. Isobel was almost asleep when we got home (and I just missed a phone call from Jon by about a minute or less) and very clingy so I was hoping that she'd take a nice long nap for me. No such luck.

At work today I had picked up the tickets that I won for the Para-Olympics and was reading the booklet that comes with the ticket. We can bring Isobel with us, if we choose, for free as long as she sits on us. After reading it, I had a couple of questions so called VANOC for clarification. Yes, I'm allowed to bring a camera with a flash into the venue, but as stated I can not take photos using the flash and I'm not allowed to take photos for commercial purposes. And yes, if the food and/or drink is for my baby, I'm allowed to bring in outside food. We'll decide closer to if we're bringing Isobel or not. I just have to remember to bring cash for food there as they don't take debit card. I was wondering why the Olympic store at the airport didn't take debit and now I know. Can't say agree with that decision, but....

Isobel finally fell asleep while breastfeeding after 4pm and slept for over an hour. So her dinner and subsequent bath were later than normal.

Isobel and I were reading some books in her room when Jon got home, so she's still up now. Jon showed me the blender he and Isobel purchased during the day (I'm looking forward to washing it tomorrow and making some smoothies) and the broom and dish washing brush he bought on his way home. Have I mentioned that he's a great husband. And since he's home, he'll put her to bed. I think it's still my turn to get up with her during the night - which means sleeping with her after the first time she wakes up, but at least it's Saturday tomorrow.

Forgot to mention, that I'm still fighting this cold, as is Isobel and now Jon suspects he may be coming down with it. As a result we're skipping Isobel's swim lessons tomorrow morning.

80/365 - A Girl and Her Horse

Actually, it was my horse when I was a baby. Isobel did get my cold. She kept Jon up most of the night as she would wake up every time she tried to breath through her nose. Poor babies. I hope Isobel gets over this faster than I have.

I'm feeling better today, still not great. Was getting cranky at work though - too long of a training session without a break and then having to eat lunch at another meeting. Oh well....

Jeff and Louise came over today to visit while I was at work. They were originally going to babysit for us, but since Jon's night shift hadn't been canceled yet came for a visit anyways. It sounded like it was a nice visit; hopefully next time I'll be at home too when they come over. And having them around was a big help for Jon; he was able to get a lot more done than normal.

After work, I picked up Jon and Isobel so that we could go grocery shopping. Not the best of ideas. As I still wasn't feeling well, had a snotty toddler, and was thirsty I forgot a lot of items on the list and also got a lot of items not on the list; most of which were drinks or drink related. Bought stuff to make smoothies but we don't have a blender. I also found lactose reduced chocolate milk for Jon. Our family doesn't drink a lot of milk but I left with 5 litres of different types of milk. Oh well, Isobel seems to be enjoying her rice krispies so I'm sure that we'll go through it.

When we got home, Isobel snuggled up to the breasts and drank and dozed for almost an hour and a half.

I did remember to buy stuff for dinner, so I made us grilled cheese sandwiches. Isobel ate almost all of hers. And I think that's what we'll be having again tomorrow as I didn't get much else for dinners.

Jon got home early tonight; just as we were about to get into a bath.

Isobel went to bed late again tonight. And once again, Jon had to come in and finish getting her to sleep. I really wish I knew why she won't go to sleep for me. Oh well... one more night and then Jon gets to put her down for a couple of nights. Although I get to get up with her for a couple of nights as well - but it's usually easier for me to get her back to sleep if she's already been asleep than just trying to get her to bed for the night.

79/365 - Enjoying the View

I stole this picture from Jon.

Last night Jon decided to sleep on the couch - I guess I offended him the other night when I didn't want to snuggle with him. Oh well....since I'm still sick I didn't mind having the bed to myself.

I had a hard time sleeping last night though; I kept waking up and then tossing and turning for a long time to finally fall asleep and then wake up again shortly thereafter. So I took a children's gravel (no, they are not in the house for Isobel, but for me) and then slept through my alarm.

I made it into work three hours late and still not feeling great, but at least my eyes had stopped stinging.

Made it through the work day to get home to Jon and Isobel. Jon ran off to work and it was just Isobel and me. We managed to get some laundry washed, but not folded or put away. Maybe tomorrow.

Ate dinner, and had a bath. Just before bed, Isobel showed signs of a runny nose so I set up the humidifier in her bedroom. Hopefully she gets over this cold faster than I have.

She was still awake when Jon got home so he took over and I'm writing this up and then going to wash some bottle bits for him as even if I had wanted to give Isobel a bottle tonight, I didn't have enough clean pieces. I really hope that she starts going to sleep easier soon. I know right now she's got a cold and teething, but....

78/365 - Being Tickled

Jon accused me of not wanting to sleep with him as I woke Isobel up while grabbing some Tums.

I was home sick today. I hate being sick.

Jon took Isobel for a walk to give me a break from her crawling all over him. When he got home, I tried to convince him to stay home, but he had no more family days left, so off to work for him.

Isobel saw me get a new roll of toilet paper, and then when I went back to the living room brought me another roll. She's so thoughtful. I almost had her asleep by the time Jon got home, but not quite. So he took over and I got ready for bed.

77/365 - Isobel's Bookcase

'm sick. I hate being sick. As soon as a cold gets to my sinuses I'm done for. I also get really whiny when sick. I'm not sure how Jon puts up with me.

The cold kicked in full gear Sunday night, and as a result I didn't call my aunt to wish her a happy birthday. Jon dealt with Isobel so that I could try to sleep, however it's difficult to fall asleep when your nose won't stop running.

I called in sick to work, but said I'd try to make it in for an hour of Olympics training in the afternoon. Jon took Isobel out for a walk to pick up ginerale and popsicles for me. Although I think Isobel has laid claim to the popsicles already.

Jon drove Isobel out to Cynthia's for a play date with Nicholas and then came home to spend some time with me before we both headed out to work.

I made it to the Olympic training, but brought my roll of toilet paper as kleenex with me. After the training, I had to pick up my Olympic jacket. And then drove to Vancouver to pick up Isobel. I had thought of skytraining it, but Jon suggested driving would be better if it was raining. I think I should have sky trained it as my head was killing by that point. But we made it home. Isobel fell asleep on the way home.

Had a quick dinner of leftovers and then a bath. Then shared a popsicle with Isobel.

She's taken to carrying her little stool around with her if she wants to climb up on to things like the couch. It's really cute, but means we could be in for a lot of trouble. Especially now that Jon's also taught her how to crawl off the couch and also out of bed.

While on Facebook, I found a picture of Jon as a baby on some random person's photo albums. This person had lots of albums of old Bella Coola and credited this one as having been Pearl Snow (Jon's gran's) photos. I also found a picture of Jon's biological grandfather - he sure looks a lot like Jon's dad.

Isobel would not go to sleep for me. I tried a bunch of times, as I was exhausted but she was super hyper. She was still awake when Jon got home. So after talking to him for a bit, I left her with him and went to bed. Also, Jon's work finally gave notice of when they're ending the late shift - Feb 1. So we got an extra month of late shifts which is nice. From Feb 1 to Mar 23 I'm on an Olympic schedule with shifts, so I think we'll be okay with help a few days only until my mom comes out.

76/365 - Isobel and The Bunnies

Weekends always go by so fast. It was my turn with Isobel again last night. She did a bit better, but not as well as she was doing before getting sick and moving. Oh well....

This morning was a bit on the lazy side. I played more FF Tactics and Isobel fell asleep breastfeeding. Since she woke up at 6am and wouldn't go back to sleep I wasn't surprised she needed a mid morning nap.

In the early afternoon we walked up to the mall again, this time through the park to pick up some fruit for Isobel this week. On the way we saw a couple of bunnies. Isobel kept pointing at them and I think would have tried to catch one if we let her out of her stroller.

On the way home, we stopped and went into the pool and hot tub in our building complex. I think I'm really going to like living here.

This afternoon I managed to get most of her room unpacked. Now just the rest of the house to do. And Jon got rid of some more empty boxes, so things are slowly starting to look more livable.

We had a dinner of a frozen chicken potato pie I had made at the old apartment. It took me a bit to figure out our new oven - Jon had to tell me what to do. But the oven is great for kids as the front did not get hot.

Jon's turn to bath Isobel tonight while I make her bed with the sheets I washed today.

75/365 - Walking in Richmond

Last night was my turn to get up and sleep with Isobel. Friday nights so far have been really loud in our apartment. Needless to say Isobel didn't really sleep very well and I was stuck in bed with her since 10pm when she woke up. She woke up again at 3am and 7am. For the 7am waking, I kept trying to get her back to sleep as I didn't know what time it is (I really need to move an alarm clock into her room) until Jon came in to let me know that it was fine for her to get up now.

Isobel had her second swim lesson this morning so we headed out to the city. She likes the water, but I don't think she had as much fun as the week before. It was my turn to go in the pool with her and we worked on back floats (which Isobel got really good at last level, but now hates more than ever), front floats, and kicking off the edge of the pool. We sang a couple of songs. I really don't think that she's going to learn anything more than what she learned at the last level, but it gives her a chance to be in the water, see other kids close to her own age, and have a bit of exposure to skills required for future swim levels.

We went for a bit of a drive on the way home as Isobel fell asleep. I played FF Tactics for a bit and then we headed out for a walk around our apartment.

Headed to the mall first for lunch and then checked out the public pool that's closest to us; they also have a teach pool so I'll have to look into setting lessons up there for the next swim level. And then we checked out the library. It was set up much more like a bookstore than a typical library. I was really impressed and might actually start using the library more. Jon got a library card and I'll get one once I change the address on my ID (probably later this week).

Headed home for some more FF Tactics. Since I didn't play last night, I've been trying to catch up to where Jon is. Not quite there yet, but oh well....

Had a dinner of beef ravioli with garlic pesto sauce. Isobel even ate some. Jon and Isobel had a bath together and I managed to get a load of laundry washed (although now I have two loads worth of folding to do tomorrow).

Isobel gave us a scare in the evening. She seemed to choke on a piece of popsicle. She's okay, but was making strange noises and fell asleep while being comfort breastfeed. Jon managed to get her into her own bed after a while. And now I'm just waiting to see if she wakes up at 11pm - last night she was awake between 10 - 10:30pm so she was actually asleep at 11.

Tomorrow we're planning on trying to get some more unpacking/organizing done, and maybe check out the pool in our building.

74/365 - Our Patio

Today was Friday and one of those days at work were I ended up with more work that needs to be done that time to do it. So already, I have a bunch of projects to get done next week on top of the regular stuff. Oh well....at least they keep me busy. I've been semi-reassigned for the Olympics which I'm looking forward to. Although I still have to do my regular job as well then, but....change is always fun.

When I got home, Jon was not waiting in the parkade to trade off Isobel. He wasn't feeling well so he called in sick. It was really nice to have him home this evening. We blew some bubbles on our patio with Isobel. And then walked to the other building in the complex to use the gym. Jon and I took a turn each on the tread mill while the other entertained Isobel.

I bathed Isobel and Jon's just trying to get her to sleep. It's my night to get up with her, so I'm really hoping she sleeps well. Almost every night since moving here she wakes up at 11pm. I wonder why. Also, it looks like her other top incisor is trying to cut through.

73/365 - Helping with Dinner

Despite going to sleep quickly last night, Isobel didn't sleep well. She was up within an hour of falling asleep. And then again at 11pm when Jon crawled into bed with her. At 4am she crawled into bed with me and was still awake at 5:15am. I slept in for work and when I left around 7:30am I could hear her talking to Jon in her room. I wonder if the teeth are bothering her or it's a growth spurt as she was finally starting to sleep a little better for a while.

We had dinner of leftover roast chicken and boiled carrots. She was really keen on 'helping' me get the carrots ready, but didn't want to eat any for dinner. She ate a lot of chicken though, including most off of my plate.

Washed her hair in the bath tonight. She really loves her baths. And then tried to cut her nails while getting her in her pajamas, managed to get most of one hand done and most of her toes.

Getting her to bed was not easy tonight. Around the time she usually wants to go to bed, she decided to eat all of the cold leftover boiled carrots and then still wanted more food. So she had some lemon yogurt. I finally managed to get her to sleep about an hour and a half later than she normally goes down. Hopefully She'll sleep well tonight.

72/365 - Rocking

sobel didn't sleep a lot for Jon last night. Just before I got up for work, she crawled over him and out of bed, wandered down the hall, and crawled into our bed. It looks like her fourth tooth is finally coming down; it's been poking out for a couple of months now, but hasn't really moved any. It's her top left second insicor. I had assumed that her other top incisor would come down first, but other parents did warn me that teeth don't always come in the order you think that they should.

My old boss, Myron, was in the office today. He now works for Edmonton Airport. It was really nice to see him and catch up. I can't believe that his oldest boy is now eleven as he was just a baby when I started working at the airport.

After work today, I picked up Jon and Isobel so that we could drive Jon to work and Isobel and I could pick up a few groceries. Jon mentioned that we needed some more diapers for Isobel and that they were on sale. It's really awkward carrying a basket of groceries, a toddler, a box of diapers, and a thing of toilet paper. The lady behind me in line up let me have her cart to get to the car, but I must remember to start getting a cart whenever grocery shopping, even if only planning on picking up a few items.

I manged to get one box of cloths unpacked with Isobel's help. We had dinner of cold roasted chicken and boiled carrots. Isobel didn't seem to mind too much, although she threw some of her chicken on the floor.

I bought some orange, peach, mango juice for me today. And Isobel kept stealing it from my cup. I water down my juice, so I figure it was fine for her and she seemed to really enjoy it.

We had a bath around 6pm. The last two nights I've been blowing bubbles (the outdoor kind) in the tub and she giggles like crazy. Tonight she kept wanting to dip the stick. I really have to look up how to make the bubble solution for when the container runs out.

In the picture above, Isobel is sitting backwards on her rocking chair and actually rocking it back and forth. I don't think I've ever seen her rock it so much on purpose before.

She was in bed by 7pm and asleep within 15 minutes. We got rid of the box spring when we moved (Jon's idea) and it's now so much easier to get her to bed. Now when I crawl out of bed it doesn't creak and wake her up.

I have just over half an hour until Jon gets home. Do I unpack or play video games?

71/365 - In the Kitchen

It's going to be a long week; it's only Tuesday and it feels like it should be much later in the work week. Oh well, I'll survive and hopefully after tomorrow it will be the weekend before I know it.

This evening Isobel and I managed to get the shower curtain and liner up in her bathroom.

While I was making dinner, I put Isobel's stool in the kitchen, hoping to get a few things put away in the cupboards that I can't reach. But Isobel figured it was her stool and that it was the perfect opportunity for her to get a better view of the kitchen.

For some reason tonight I decided to look at old photos and videos of Isobel when she was a baby. And yup, my baby is no longer a baby. We have a video of her crying as a newborn, and I can't believe that other mothers were correct that I miss that cry. At the time they told me I'd miss it, I swore they were crazy. It's amazing at how quickly one forgets the horrible parts of a new baby once one becomes less sleep deprived.

70/365 - Being an Imp

First day back at work and I was in training and meetings all day. Oh well...the training was about violence in the workplace and had a lot of practical personal life info too.

Isobel was cranky today at times; I'm not sure cranky is the correct word. She would start using a tea towel like a cape and then start screaming. She also had a total of five poopy diapers during the day (Jon got three of them and I had to change two) and has been very gassy the last couple of nights, so I'm wondering if her stomach or bowels are bothering her.

I let Isobel play with my blackberry this afternoon as it was locked and I thought that meant she couldn't send any emails or make any calls. But she made an emergency call to 911. So I got a call back and then a visit from the RCMP as it's their policy to follow up to ensure that nothing is amiss. Rather embarrassing, but nice to know that they respond to such calls. And Isobel is now no longer allowed to play with my blackberry.

Isobel was climbing on the unpacked boxes (as pictured above). Yes, her name suits her as she's my little imp and obviously needs to be watched constantly.

I talked to my Aunt Joan this evening before putting Isobel to bed. Isobel was getting cranky as I got off the phone and when I asked her if she wanted to go to bed, she nodded yes. She was asleep for about twenty minutes before Jon got home from work.

Jon was a very good husband today; he got some unpacking done, unloaded the dishwasher, and cleaned the bottle bits. I, on the other hand, was a horrible wife and only unpacked one box, bathed the baby, and set up the webcam as my parents have missed their daily video calls with Isobel. Oh well, maybe tomorrow evening will be more productive for me.

69/365 - Sunday Bath With Daddy

Since things have been a little crazy with moving, we haven't been making Isobel take a bath every night. Now that we're in the new place, it's time to get back into the habit since she loves her baths.

Today we drove Maggie to the airport. And then headed out to Park Royal for some errands. And stopped at Drexoll on the way home to find a wooden rummoli board - they don't have one. We threw our old tray out in the move as it was broken and sharp plastic edges aren't safe (it started to break in the move before). Got home and Jon called Shaw to get our internet working on the computers while I played more Final Fantasy Tactics. (I think I'm addicted to that game right now).

We got our photo streams updated, ate dinner, and then Jon bathed the baby. I also managed to get three loads of laundry dome (less the folding, which I don't seem to enjoy as much as washing the clothes), and a load of dishes washed (again, those still have to be put away and then the dishwasher reloaded with the dirty dishes from the old apartment).

Tomorrow it's back to work, and then working on unpacking while Jon's at work in the evening.

68/365 - Saying Goodbye to the Old Apartment

We got up early on Saturday to head into the city for Isobel's first duck level swim lesson. Only Jon went in the pool with her this time. Today's lesson centered around ways to get your child into the pool and some general safety things concerning pools. At the end of class there was some free time, so they got out early as did most of the class. I had forgotten how crowded the family change room gets with a set of lessons trying to get into the pool and a set trying to leave. After this session is over, I'll start looking into where to take lessons in Richmond.

After swim lessons, we headed back to the old apartment for the last time. We still had some cleaning supplies there (including Matty's carpet cleaner) to pick up and I wanted a couple of photos. Jon thinks that part of the reason that I'm a pack rat is because I'm sentimental. I lived in this apartment for over five years. If I had not have moved into it, I would probably never have met Jon nor had my daughter. Plus this is where my daughter spent the first year of her life.

After taking a few pictures inside, we locked up and slipped the key under the door. Time to start a new chapter in our lives.

In the afternoon, Jon had a gaming event he was running in Richmond, so we headed out to that. Then home, where I played some more Final Fantasy Tactics instead of unpacking.

We then headed out to Surrey to pick up Maggie for the night as she was staying with us before flying back to Bella Coola the next morning. We tried out the Mad Greek by our new place for dinner.

67/365 - Rice Krispies

I'm a horrible mother and fed my daughter a late dinner of rice krispies. Oh well, she seemed to enjoy them.

I stopped at the office for a few minutes this morning before heading to the old apartment by myself to get a car load of stuff. Jon and Isobel waited at home for the carpet cleaning guy that the new landlord's rental agent had requested. Plus Shaw was due to come by in the morning to hook up our internet and phone services.

When I got back with the car load, Shaw still wasn't here. So we waited until almost noon when they showed up.

Then we headed back to the old place to finish cleaning and take another load. Between Jon and I taking breaks to entertain Isobel, we managed to get the rest of the place cleaned. And the keys (less one set) turned over to the landlord.

By the time we got home, it was getting late again. Jon went back to get the last load of stuff from the storage locker while Isobel and I had a bath.

I was in charge of Isobel, so that Jon could get some sleep. He had downloaded an old game (Final Fantasy Tactics) onto the PS3 and I stayed up late playing that.

Isobel woke up at 1:30am or so with a very poopy diaper. And then kept waking up every so often and insisting on breastfeeding before she'd fall asleep again.

66/365 - In limbo

Most pictures lately were taken at the new place, despite spending all day at the old place, trying to clean and sort out the rest of the stuff still there.

On Thursday, we managed to get the two bedrooms completely emptied, vacuumed, and carpet cleaned. Plus most of the fridge contents got emptied. Jon took Isobel to his old office to say hello and ran a couple of errands while I did some cleaning.

It's fustrating not knowing where anything is - other than in a box somewhere - but I really want to finish up everything with the old apartment before worrying about organizing the new one.

Also, 1-800-GOT-JUNK picked up our old mattress and box spring for us that evening. I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to come on such sort notice.

Once at the new place, Isobel carried around this bottle bag for most of the evening.

65/365 - Starting to Feel Like Home

With help from Raven and Leo on the Vancouver end and Brett and Brian on the Richmond end, we were able to get the rest of the furniture moved from the old to new places and most of the boxes. Although, it did take all day.

Alida, Annika and Althea met up with us at the new place to return Isobel at 4pm. As usual, she was well behaved for Alida and ate lots there. Plus she slept really well while there. Alida was very proud of herself for being able to get the three girls asleep within fifteen minutes, but says it was hard having two in car seats.

We ordered pizza for dinner after Alida left; we still haven't unpacked anything except the necessities yet.

Jon was super excited to be able to lay down on the couch again.

64/365 - Morning Cup of Tea

I went into work today. Again via sky train so that Jon could have the car to drive Isobel out to Alida's for the night. He managed to get Tuesday through Friday off and had asked Alida to watch Isobel to make it easier for us loading up the truck he had rented for Wednesday.

In the late morning, he stopped by my office so that I could give Isobel a kiss and to pick up some packing boxes. Then he and Isobel drove out to Abbotsford to meet up with Alida at Annika's first gymnastics lesson.

I took the sky train to the old apartment after work to meet up with Jon and try to finish packing up the old place. We got most of it packed up before stopping for a late dinner at Kadoya. I'm really going to miss being so close to Kadoya, but it's somewhere we'll still go to every once and a while.

It was nice to not have to worry about Isobel for the evening as we got a lot more accomplished than if she had been with us, but we both really missed her.

After getting back to the new place, Jon and I stayed up a little later than we should of playing a couple of rounds of "Race for the Galaxy". Some how I managed to beat him both times; normally it's a game that he wins a little more frequently than I do.

63/365 - Checking out the New Apartment

Being Monday, it was back to work for me. So that Jon could get a few things done during the day, I walked and sky trained it to work. Rather frustrating as it's only an eight minute drive from the new place, but probably 45 minutes on sky train. Oh well....

After work, Isobel and I came back to the new apartment (as she was crabby and wanted to breastfeed) for a while. We managed to get a load of laundry done (less the folding part) before heading to the old apartment to try to pack a few things and load a few things into the car. Then we went to pick Jon up from work before going back to the new apartment for the night.

Pictured is Isobel playing in the shower stall in our new bathroom. She just loves it. One of these days, I'll have to put her in there when the shower's on to see her reaction. Her bathroom has a soaker tub in it.

62/365 - 14 Months Old

Today was the first day we slept over at the new apartment. Her monthly picture was taken just before bed and hence, she's in her pajamas.

Thanks to the help of Jon's dad and his spouse, we were able to get two truck loads of stuff over to the new place. We moved our bed (which is why we slept at the new place), the tv stand, the tv, a bookcase, and other odds and ends over.

61/365 - Still Packing and Moving

Jon and I seemed to be feeling better today. Which was good news as we're behind on our packing schedule. Getting sucked into the second season of Mad Men didn't help either though.

We dropped Isobel off at Jon's mom today and borrowed her van for moving. Managed to get a couple of trips in and got all of the furniture for Isobel's room moved. And her bed set up. So now it's just a matter of unpacking and organizing her room - which will wait until after we move everything else. And then clean the old place. The new place is starting to feel more like home with all of our stuff starting to pile up in there.

Isobel seemed to do well at Jon's mom's today. She managed to take a 30 minute nap; however, I think she missed us as much as we missed her. She was really happy to finally get some milk when we got home. Her aunt and cousins also were over at Jon's mom's and apparently she kept wanting Jordan's bottle. Which is strange as she never seems to want a bottle from us through the day - only at night or first thing in the morning.

Jon's just trying to get her to sleep now, in our bed. And then he and I are going to try to get a bunch more packing done for tomorrow as his dad's bringing his truck to help us move some more stuff over. We'll probably end up moving the computer over, so the daily pictures will be delayed until we get internet at the new place.

60/365 - New Year's Day

Still recovering from the flu. Does this headache ever go away?

We brought one load over to the new apartment today. And took Isobel's bed apart for transporting. Didn't really get any other packing done. Oh well, there's always tomorrow. I'm really hoping that I get a good night's sleep tonight as I'm exhausted.
