47/52 - First Hot Chocolate
Jon and I were both sick on Wednesday. We brought Isobel to Matt's for Cally, April and Michelle to watch Isobel and so that we could rest. Isobel got introduced to Cyrene, Chloe and Alyce (more Sun girls) from Australia. Isobel was so tired from playing that she fell asleep on the way home and then slept on the couch for a couple of hours.
I went back to work on Thursday for a little bit, but my sinuses were killing me so Jon and Isobel picked me up before preschool. Isobel made something at preschool and had popcorn.
On Friday, both Jon and I were back at work. Robyn and the kids looked after Isobel and brought her an early birthday present of Melissa and Doug cupcakes - really cute. It was nice to see them as it's been a while.
On Saturday, Isobel had the first ballet lesson of the season. It's a different teacher and I don't think she enjoyed it as much but I'm hoping that she'll get used to it. We went to Autumn Tea at London Heritage Farm in the afternoon and explored the old house. Isobel really enjoyed her first hot chocolate with marshmallows. We stopped at the playground in Steveston so that Isobel could run around a little.
On Sunday, we took Isobel to swim class.
Monday, at preschool, Isobel helped make lemonaid with fresh lemons. She said that it was sweet because of the sugar.
On Tuesday, Isobel helped bake blueberry muffins at preschool.

46/52 - First Swim Lesson of the Season
Cally and April watched Isobel on Wednesday. When I picked her up, I realized that she was starting to get sick after two days in preschool; she was super warm and cuddly.
On Thursday it was back to playschool. The kids tasted bananas in class.
On Friday, Isobel had a dentist appointment. She got her first x-rays of her teeth taken and a good checkup.
Jon went to gaming on Saturday afternoon while Isobel and I took a nap as she still wasn't feeling great. In the evening we went to Mark and Allice's to visit with Annie.
On Sunday we went to Isobel's first swim lesson of the season. However, since she was still sick we just stopped in to say we'd be back next week and find out what we were missing. Went to Park Royal next and did some shopping. Karla came over for dinner and wrapped all of my Christmas presents to date - I'm so inviting her back the next time I have a batch of presents to wrap! Jon made a yummy dinner of sweet potato and spinach risotto.
On Monday, Isobel had preschool again. It was the first time that Jon dropped her off and I picked her up. She made a sunflower in school.
On Tuesday, I started to feel sick. Jon took a family day to look after me and Isobel and take over the volunteer roll I had signed up for at preschool - making corn on the cob. I slept most of the afternoon and evening. Jon's just starting to come down with the cold as well.

45/52 - First Day of Preschool
On Wednesday, Jon and Isobel headed downtown to Angel's but she didn't hear her door buzzer and didn't answer the door so Jon ended up taking time to watch Bells. They picked me up from work and we went to garden in afternoon to put more dirt on our plot. And plant another row of carrots. We grabbed sandwiches and a screamer for dinner on the way home and then did some grocery shopping.
On Thursday, I was sick. I suspect either lactose issues from the screamer the night before or a stomach flu (which Isobel may have also had). Isobel and I took a really long nap in afternoon and then went into the pool for a little bit. Jon went to gaming in evening; Isobel and I made spaghetti with lemon oil and peppers, onions and peas for dinner. We took a bath in the evening after doing some finger painting.
On Friday, Angel watched Bells downtown. In the evening, we went to the mall so Isobel could play with kid airplane there. Isobel slept with us as she'd been asking to most of the week but I don't want her to wake up when my alarm goes off before 5am, so we had a Friday night sleepover in mommy and daddy's bed.
On Saturday, I accidently stabbed my hand with a pair of scissors and managed to get blood every where. We didn't end up going to emergency but it was close. In the afternoon we went to Alison's baby shower for Alianna.
Since the weather was great, and it rained on Jon's birthday when we had plans to go, we went to Wreck Beach on Sunday. We took the long walk instead of the stairs. Found a great area with a tidal pool and not too many people just down from the main area of Wreck. Isobel had a lot of fun running around and playing. She let the waves chase her and built sand castles. The day passed really quickly, plus we got a lot of great photos of Isobel at the beach. We stopped at a Greek place for lunch in Jon's old stomping ground, but Isobel was so tired out from the beach that she slept on the bench next to Jon. We had time to have a quick shower/bath at home to wash the sand off us before heading to Karla's for the True Blood season finale.
Monday was Isobel's first day of preschool. There's a graduated start, so class was only for an hour and with half the kids. We picked up some sushi and had a picinic lunch at the park near her preschool before going inside. There's only fourteen kids signed up for preschool this year; of wich only four are three years old and eight are girls. Based on the first day, I suspect Isobel is going to love school. She mostly played with a kid sized door and phone at the preschool, but she also made her first art project there - a collage of yellow. Plus she helped clean up when asked and sat really well for circle time; we were both very proud of her. After preschool, we drove Jon to work and then headed home. Isobel and I went for a walk to pick up Jon from work in the evening. Isobel and I were both in bed early.
Tuesday was Isobel's second day of Preschool. I left work early to bring her there and pick her up as class was only for an hour and a half.

43/52 - Building Our Garden Plot
On Wednesday, Angel watched Isobel for us. Isobel fell asleep on the train ride home.
On Thursday, Robyn and the kids watched Isobel.
On Friday, Jon took time to watch Isobel. We went to the Spaghetti Factory for dinner and then headed to our garden plot to build the frame.
On Saturday, we headed back to the garden to start filling with our plot with dirt. Isobel started to get bored and it was hot, so we decided to head home and jump into the pool for a bit before returning. Isobel is doing really well in the pool, and while not jumping in from the edge is jumping in from the steps and ladder. By the time we headed back to the garden the pile of dirt was almost depleted. So we did a little bit of filling and have to wait until more dirt is brought in.
On Sunday, we went to check Matt's mail. Did some grocery shopping, checked out the garden and took a afternoon nap. We went to Karla's in the evening.
On Monday, Jon took time to watch Isobel. In the afternoon, Isobel and I did some chores - she helped me wash some dishes and do laundry. I made a salmon alfredo pasta for dinner. In the evening, we went for a walk to the library.
On Tuesday Jon again took time to watch Isobel.
44/52 - 34 Months Old
44/52 - 34 Months Old
On Wednesday Angel watched Bells downtown for us.
On Thursday, Robyn and kids were on holidays in Oregan so I took time off to watch Bells. We took some photos outside wearing her ladybug girl dress that grandma made her.
On Friday, we checked garden to see if there was more dirt for our plot in the evening. Since there wasn't we stopped at Granville Park and Bells went down slide multiple times by herself.
On Saturday, Isobel turned 34 Months old. We tried taking her monthly photo with penguin in various locales including Stanley Park. We stopped at La Casa Gelatto in the afternoon for Isobel to have some blue cotton candy ice cream. In the evening, we went to Kaj's 19th birthday party.
On Sunday, we drove to Chilliwack to see Triss' new house and visit with family and friends that we had not seen in a long time. In the evening we went to Karla's, but got there just as True Blood ended.
Monday was Labour Day. Matt, who had just arrived back the day before, came over and played boardgames.
On Tuesday Cally watched Bells.
42/52 - New Cousin and Daddy's Birthday
It was Frances' birthday and Isobel came into the office to have some of her birthday cake on Wednesday. Jon had the day off and I left work early and we went to the beach. It was a little windy, but Isobel had fun playing in a tidal pool with me.
On Thursday, Robyn and the kids watched Isobel.
On Friday, Michelle watched Isobel at Matt's. We got a phone call offering us a garden plot in Richmond. Isobel wanted to have a picnic so we picked up some sushi and Jon after he got off work and headed to the location of our future garden plot to have a picnic in Paulik Park. We stopped for ice cream on the way home.
On Saturday, Jon's sister had a baby girl, Alianna. As a result Jon's birthday party got mostly cancelled at the last minute as we had to watch Allison's boys. The Birds still came over for a little bit for pizza, swimming and games before we picked up Ryley and Jordan. We had to stop off at the hospital to pick up Jordan's car seat and Isobel was super excited to hold her new baby cousin.
On Sunday, we brought the boys to meet their sister and then headed to Lynn Canyon Park to check out the suspension bridge there. In the evening, Isobel and I went to Karla's for yummy summer salad (Isboel only ate the berries) and carrot cake and to watch True Blood while Jon stayed home with his nephews.
Jon's birthday was on Monday and it was pouring rain. We dropped boys off at hospital with Terri in the morning and then headed to the PNE. It was pretty miserable, but we caught the Bobs and Lolo concert inside - Isobel's first concert. We also ate lots of cotton candy and played a few games. When asked, Isobel said the best part about the PNE was seeing Cally, who was working the Bobs and Lolo concert. On the way home we grabbed some greek take out for dinner. Isobel made a lot of pretend calls to Ava during the day.
Jon and I had both taken Tuesday off as well. We headed to Ladner to West Coast Seeds to get a few things to plant in our garden over the fall and then headed to Granville Island to meet up with Cynthia and Nicholas, We went swimming in the late afternoon at home.
41/52 - Nature
41/52 - Nature
On Wednesday, Angel watched Belly. We picked up a parcel from Grandma in the evening and went to the library.
On Thursday, Robyn and kids watched Bells. Isobel and I brought the wagon to meet Jon at work and stopped for picture taking on way home at a fountain in the complex across from us. We also picked up a few groceries.
On Friday, Isobel and I had lunch at Aberdeen with some co- workers. I had taken some time off work as the landloard's representative as conducting an apartment inspection. Isobel and I made sugar cookie dough in the afternoon.
On Saturday, we headed to my co-worker, Colleen's community garden plot in the morning. Isobel had lots of fun digging for potatoes and picking berries. Although I think her favorite was getting a cucumber. Now I really want a garden. In the afternoon, Jon had gaming and Isobel and I baked the sugar cookies. Jon helped her decorate them when he got home.
On Sunday, we purchased a flat of raspberries, my favorite. It was grandpa's birthday. Isobel was excited all morning as she was spending the night with Alida, Annika and Ava and she wasn't going to miss mommy or daddy at all.
On Monday, Jon was sick. After work we picked up Bells from White Rock were Alida, Althea and the girls were spending the day. Isobel was excited to see us for about a minute and then went pack to Ava. This trip is the one where Isobel and Ava finally clicked and played together a lot. Jon bought me a bikini while we were in White Rock.
On Tuesday, Cally watcked Bell's for us at Matt's place. On our way home, Isobel and I picked up some balloons for a co-worker's (Frances) birthday the next day. In the evening, we dropped the balloons off at work and went to the library.
