363/365 - Happy Halloween

Jon dressed up as The Man in Black (the Dread Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride) and Isobel was his ROUS (rodent of unusual size or a cute little mouse). She did not like to wear her mouse ear hat though.

I went into work for a couple of hours in the morning. We had a lazy afternoon and then we headed to the mall early for trick or treating. We got Isobel a really cute hat (which we'll hopefully use in our Bopomo photos in a couple of weeks) and a winter coat.

Trick or treating was crazy. I think the mall was more packed than it is at Christmas. As a result we didn't stay too long.

Got home and relaxed some more. Isobel and I had a bath. She's just watching George for the billionth time and then it's story time and bed.

362/365 - Second Birthday Party

We had Isobel's second birthday at the Vancouver Aquatic Center. She didn't want to come out of the pool she was having so much fun.

Had lunch of pizza and veggies and dip. Cupcakes and cookies for dessert.

Isobel got spoiled. She fell asleep on the way home and we had a lazy evening as we were all so tired.

Thanks to everyone who made it to her birthday party!

361/365 - Getting Ready for the Birthday Party

I stayed home today so Jon could take the car in. It's going to be expensive to fix and we're not getting it back until next week, but we need the car.

Jon, Isobel and I walked to her dance class this morning. It took us about half an hour and has me tempted to start trying to walk to work before we move. It would be almost the same time as taking transit.

We iced the sugar cookies in the afternoon. Isobel liked the icing and helped put on the pink sugar we had made.

Michelle came over in the afternoon to help out and spend the night. We went for a walk to Diaso and the grocery store to pick up some more party supplies.

Jon made us perogies and sausage for dinner. We watched a lot of Doctor Who Season 1. Baked some chocolate cupcakes and iced all the cupcakes.

Isobel was up way past her bedtime, but fell asleep easily for me in our bed. Now hopefully, she'll let Jon and I sneak in there later.

360/365 - First Eye Doctor Appointment

We found out the owners sold the apartment today and we have to be out by Dec 31. Not looking forward to moving again.

Jon and Isobel had an eye doctor appointment today. Isobel is a little farsighted, but that's normal for children her age according to the doctor. They picked me up afterwards from work so I could drive Jon to work.

I started packing a few things up. May as well start packing now so it's easier to actually move.

Jon picked up the car to go gaming. Isobel and I baked some cupcakes. Then we took a bath and read stories.

Bed time did not go well; she was still up when Jon got home. She "missed daddy." He got her to bed. Jon also reported that our car was making funny noises, smelled funny, and almost overheated on the way home. I called into work to take a holiday day for tomorrow so Jon can take the car in. What else could go wrong?

359/365 - Baking Cookies

Michelle watched Isobel for us today. No crying this time when Jon left and somehow Michelle was able to get Isobel to nap for an hour.

I had a nice visit with Michelle when I got home, and then I made sugar cookie dough and placed it in the fridge to chill.

Isobel and I went to pick up Jon from work. Grabbed a quick sushi dinner and then headed to the grocery store. Got home and baked the sugar cookies, with Isobel's "help". She manged to sneak one off of the cooling rack while I wasn't watching. And then kept asking for more cookie. But they're supposed to be for her birthday party this weekend. Now just to put some icing on them one night this week and bake some cupcakes.

It was Jon's turn to put Isobel to bed. No crying this time, but she was a little hyped up on sugar.

357/365 - Wishbone

We've been drying our wishbone since Thanksgiving and I keep forgetting about it, we finally broke it tonight. I got the slightly larger piece.

Cally watched Isobel for us today at Matt's. Isobel used the potty for her twice and then tried to con her out of extra treats but Cally was wise to Isobel's shenanigans. Cally also managed to get Isobel to nap as well. We had a nice visit with Cally after I got there; Isobel fell asleep again on my lap with her hand down my shirt. And then a visit with Matt when he got home from work. Isobel didn't want to leave Matt's house.

We picked up Jon and headed home. Ate dinner and then had some apartment showings. The realtor's assistant is pretty sure that one of the groups of people he showed to tonight are going to make an offer. Which means we'll have to move in just over two months most likely. Not looking forward to moving, but....

It's Jon's turn to put Isobel to bed tonight, hope it goes better for him than it did for me last night.

358/365 - Pumpkin Carving

Cally watched Isobel for us again today. Isobel is so excited to go see Cally on Mondays and Tuesdays lately.

Isobel and I went striaght home today; she watched some George while I tried to tidy up the living room a little. Jon got home and we all had dinner.

Jon got an email from the rental agent that the owners wanted to see the apartment on Thursday morning as they've heard reports that the place isn't selling because it's cluttered (why would I stage the aparment I'm living in so that they can sell it? And we have a toddler), that the carpets have spots (that were there when we moved in despite the rental agency paying a professional carpet cleaner to remove them twice), and that the shower has mold growing on it (I'll admit that the bathrooms do not get cleaned as often as I'd like, but there's no mold and the shower is usually not too much dirtier than when we moved in). I know this annoys me more than it should, and as Jon pointed out if I was the owner and heard things about the apartment I'd want to check it out myself too, but they have no right to say what state I keep the apartment in as long as I'm not doing anything illegal or damaging.

In the evening we carved our pumpkin. Isobel did not want to help remove the insides, but we conned her into it for this picture. She did not like the feeling. Jon did the actual carving while I tried to make some caramilzed pumkin seeds; didn't go so well.

It was my turn to put Isobel to bed and it did not go well. After an hour and a half of crying, Jon took over so I could go to bed.
